Just another welcome topic

Postby MarbleTurtle » August 11th, 2015, 8:26 pm

Hello! I'm MarbleTurtle, and I'm a book, game, and science junkie who is 27 years old and lives in the United States. Ever since I was little, I have loved to play games of just about any type, whether it was board games, video games, you name it!

Hey, MarbleTurtle. I moved your post to its own thread, partly because I want you to be able to have your very own thread for people to welcome you.
(We're always excited to see new people. :D )

There's plenty to do and talk about here, not just gaming. Be sure to check out Artwork, Serious Discussion, and Off Topic, or just join us in chat. And if you need any help, look for someone with a name colored something other than blue. They are staff, and are they are here to help you, especially the purple .

Other than that, Welcome to the forums, and have fun.

You obviously like us a lot, yet you don't have to tell that on every random topic and at every occasion. Rather contribute to topics instead of saying "I love this" or "This is an awesome level, 5/5". If you overdo it, it can be considered as postcounting (posting a lot without much effort), which is a rule violation. Also watch out not to bump old topics - that is, posting in a topic where the last post lies further back in the past (one month or several months at least), and not really contributing something new. I'd generally recommend you to read the rules. Also don't overuse the thumbs up button. Thumbs up are supposed to be for posts which are really good in the way of being helpful to others, funny, or just very awesome (e.g. opening posts of large site events, or statistics, or Level Collection / Artwork topics with great content)

Generally the best way of showing that you like us, is being nice and contributive by yourself.

Welcome to the forums, Marble. As Doram said, you can also check out the Chat or the Off-topic forum if you want to hang out a little.

Rating standards: show
1 star: (0 - 5.75 in LDC) These levels need a lot of work. They're totally un-elaborated, and/or inherently flawed due to things like cutoff or enemy spam, or they're untested and there are too many bugs gameplay-wise, in short: Many many things went wrong in such a level.

2 stars: (6 - 9.75) These levels are not terrible, but poor. They're too short, lack scenery or they have errors and/or bugs but it's still barely enjoyable. Again, spend more effort and try to do better. (if it's your first level that I rate two stars, it's not bad. There's a long way you can still go)

3 stars: (10 - 12.75) These levels are about mediocre. They may be still a little bit short, the gameplay is fine but not very original and graphics are also solid, but not breath-taking. Try to keep improving!

4 stars: (13 - 15) These levels are nice, but not the best. Effort has been put into them, there can some professionality be seen in gameplay and graphics, they're a nice experience to play, but there are still things you can do to make it even better. Try to go the extra mile!

5 stars: (15.25 - 20) These are really great levels, those which, as said, I would give more than 15 in an LDC. These suffice many high requirements, and it already goes into subtleties if you want to make them better. These levels are successful all around. Bravo.

These are just general principles I try to follow when rating. Sometimes I don't leave a further comment when rating, most times I do, if you have questions about it, feel free to ask further.

Thank you very much for the tips, Supershroom! I appreciate any advice on how I can make sure to use stuff on this website correctly. I'm new to this so please don't hesitate to point something out to me so I don't end up getting in trouble for something I do. From now on, I think I'll post more sporadically to avoid breaking the rules. Rule-breaking is something I do not want to do. Again, thank you for your advice! Kind regards! :D

XD No problem. Also, if you have more to say, you can edit your last post instead of posting twice in a row. Double posting is against the rules in most forums too.

EDIT:
Speaking of having more to say, I was just rereading all of this, and just noticed that you're 27. I will add that despite being in the minority age-wise (most users are teenagers, and many are here that go as low as 10), you will probably find many young people here are quite mature, or at least working on it. Our Serious Discussion section has been home to a large number of VERY serious discussions about living life properly in general and treating others properly and dealing with conflict. Around here, we are doubly appreciative of reasonable adults, so welcome indeed. :D

Welcome to the forums! You seem like you'll fit right in. I would say make yourself at home, but I saw that you were on the chat earlier today, so I guess you already started. :p
