Hiya! I'm new here.

Postby Blooper-Raptor » September 17th, 2015, 4:18 pm

Hello! My username is Blooper-Raptor, as you probably know already. I've finally gotten myself a Runouw account! I'm not that old yet (I won't be sharing my exact age, but I'm not an adult) so please excuse any immaturity from me.

Back before I knew of consoles, when I was a lot younger, I started playing online games. I played many, but eventually I found Super Mario 63. Back then, I thought it was an official Mario game, and I didn't know of Nintendo or Super Mario 64. It was my first major introduction to Mario and different Mario characters, objects and places, so it's very important to me.

I always wanted to get a Runouw account, but I never got around to making one or even looking at the forums. I just played Super Mario 63. But the other day, I started making a SM63 level that I actually planned to finish, one that I was putting some effort into, and I wanted to share it and make more levels in the future. Plus, I have more ideas and inspiration nowadays. So I finally got a Runouw account about an hour ago. I've spent the last hour looking around the forums, and eventually I found this area.

The community here looks better than those of most other sites I have joined, and I am looking forward to making friends, chatting, playing and reviewing other people's levels and sharing my levels!

Hey. Welcome to Runouw.

It seems like you probably already know your way around here for the most part, so I'm just going to say that you should check out the IRC (click the "Chat" button in the top right section of the header, or this link). It's generally far more active than the forums, and it'll help you connect with the other members of the community more. Also, if you like SM63's level designer, you might enjoy Last Legacy (LL), which you can find under the Games tab of the site or at the LL site/forums. Otherwise, if you have any questions or anything, post in Site Discussion, ask on chat, or PM someone with a coloured name.

And don't worry about being immature/too young. We all are to some extent (obviously I'm talking about the former but we don't discriminate age either). I mean, it's perfectly okay to have fun and act silly. You don't really even come across as immature at all to me, anyway :p

Now, what are you waiting for, go have fun

Always nice to have new designing talents. :) We have a good gaggle of experienced designers who can teach you on making good levels. Eventually, Level Designing Contests are taking place, where you can truly test your skills against others. Hello and welcome to the forums!

Thank you, FF.

Nan's sig! From the previous Secret Santa event!: show
Rating standards: show
1 star: (0 - 5.75 in LDC) These levels need a lot of work. They're totally un-elaborated, and/or inherently flawed due to things like cutoff or enemy spam, or they're untested and there are too many bugs gameplay-wise, in short: Many many things went wrong in such a level.

2 stars: (6 - 9.75) These levels are not terrible, but poor. They're too short, lack scenery or they have errors and/or bugs but it's still barely enjoyable. Again, spend more effort and try to do better. (if it's your first level that I rate two stars, it's not bad. There's a long way you can still go)

3 stars: (10 - 12.75) These levels are about mediocre. They may be still a little bit short, the gameplay is fine but not very original and graphics are also solid, but not breath-taking. Try to keep improving!

4 stars: (13 - 15) These levels are nice, but not the best. Effort has been put into them, there can some professionality be seen in gameplay and graphics, they're a nice experience to play, but there are still things you can do to make it even better. Try to go the extra mile!

5 stars: (15.25 - 20) These are really great levels, those which, as said, I would give more than 15 in an LDC. These suffice many high requirements, and it already goes into subtleties if you want to make them better. These levels are successful all around. Bravo.

These are just general principles I try to follow when rating. Sometimes I don't leave a further comment when rating, most times I do, if you have questions about it, feel free to ask further.
