Image ABOUT

The Gaming Caption Contest is a game created by MessengerOfDreams back in 2009. The goal of the game is to give an appropriate and preferably funny caption to each of the 7 given screenshots.

Here, for the sake of the Runolympics, we'll use the following system to decide who the winner is: for each screenshot, and I () will rank the team captions from favourite to least favourite. The winner of the event will be the team with the most winning captions. In case of a tie, we'll look at the number of second place captions, and if that's a tie too, the third place captions and so on. It is similar to the process used in the real life Olympics to determinate the overall winner of the Olympics.

Image RULES

  • One caption per team for each caption.
  • However there is no minimum or maximum length for the caption. It could be a one-letter caption, a dialog or a whole backstory. Your choice.
  • The caption can describe what happens before, during or after the picture. Once again, your choice.
  • Swearing in the captions is okay, but try to avoid gore and sexual content.
  • A team can skip pictures if they are out of ideas.

SUBMIT YOUR CAPTIONS IN A TOPIC INSIDE YOUR SUBFORUM
(preferably on the first post)

They will be posted here during the results. This is to avoid copying, but also to avoid suspicions
when two captions are similar. That way we'll know for a fact it's just a coincidence.

To submit your entries, you don't need to edit the picture or anything. Just give us the screenshot number and then your caption, like so:
1. Caption for 1
2. Caption for 2
...

You have until the 25th of July, 11:59pm PST to submit your team captions!

Isn't it also possible to submit all captions or a few of them via PM? Because timezones and noone in our team has the power to edit.

Thank you, FF.

Nan's sig! From the previous Secret Santa event!: show
Rating standards: show
1 star: (0 - 5.75 in LDC) These levels need a lot of work. They're totally un-elaborated, and/or inherently flawed due to things like cutoff or enemy spam, or they're untested and there are too many bugs gameplay-wise, in short: Many many things went wrong in such a level.

2 stars: (6 - 9.75) These levels are not terrible, but poor. They're too short, lack scenery or they have errors and/or bugs but it's still barely enjoyable. Again, spend more effort and try to do better. (if it's your first level that I rate two stars, it's not bad. There's a long way you can still go)

3 stars: (10 - 12.75) These levels are about mediocre. They may be still a little bit short, the gameplay is fine but not very original and graphics are also solid, but not breath-taking. Try to keep improving!

4 stars: (13 - 15) These levels are nice, but not the best. Effort has been put into them, there can some professionality be seen in gameplay and graphics, they're a nice experience to play, but there are still things you can do to make it even better. Try to go the extra mile!

5 stars: (15.25 - 20) These are really great levels, those which, as said, I would give more than 15 in an LDC. These suffice many high requirements, and it already goes into subtleties if you want to make them better. These levels are successful all around. Bravo.

These are just general principles I try to follow when rating. Sometimes I don't leave a further comment when rating, most times I do, if you have questions about it, feel free to ask further.

I'm a little confused about this deadline. The two times don't match up. I'm assuming you meant 26th of July, 7:59am PST, since that's a day later than the original deadline because of the technical difficulty delay?

I may appear a bit stupid with this, but: What exactly do we have to think of? When I've researched the german meaning of "caption", I've got something like "Schlagzeile", which is the line that appears on a newspaper or boulevard in large font next to the picture (other meaning: headline). Then I saw a post of MoD in our subforum, and now it looks like it could be more general, e.g. writing something Mario could think in the moment of jumping over Chain-Chomp in the first picture.
