Regarding some of your concerns and ideas for judges:

I wouldn't be surprised if SK is just taking a break from the forums for a bit. The timing is a bit inconvenient since it's in the middle of RO and all, and he hasn't contacted anyone apart from posting on the forums occasionally, but it seems like he's had a lot of (real life) stress on him recently, and managing RO on top of that would probably not be a very healthy decision. It would be nice if he at least could tell us what's going on, but for now, we'll have to work with his absence. Just chill out. If anything, it's probably people freaking out and telling him to hurry up with the RO stuff that's keeping him from coming back. He's probably gone for a reason and you're not helping by demanding things from him.

Also, I don't know if you guys are still trying to contact BY through PM and stuff (he mentioned something about people still trying to get him to judge yesterday?), but he confirmed again that he will not be judging and has absolutely no time at all that he can spare for judging. So please stop if you haven't. As for Runouw, I wouldn't expect either of the two of them to have time, either (though I haven't talked to them directly about it or anything), since it seems like they're probably in a situation similar to BY. Having full-time jobs and developing a game on the side is pretty time-taxing for all three of these people and it's kind of a stretch to expect them to be available for something like this that would take even more time out of their day and cost them sleep.

I'm kind of a proponent of the "if it's going to negatively impact your health in any way, you should probably avoid doing it" idea. That applies to SK and BY for sure, dunno about Runouw. But it's not okay to expect someone to lose sleep or put even more stress on them like this.

---

Anyway...

If you actually do happen to have a decent amount of free time and motivation that you're willing to spare for judgings, you should definitely volunteer, at least as a backup judge. Niicola, you seem like you're pretty active on the LL designing scene, so you would probably be pretty fit to be a judge, if you're up for it. We've pretty much always brought in backup judges to judge the levels of the main judges (that was a lot of judges in one sentence), so you shouldn't have to worry about your own. So, consider it, and we'd definitely appreciate it if you sign up.

It's not that I don't want to be a judge, I'm waiting for more info in order to take a decision. I don't want to take responsabilities and then let you down (because September = less free-time for most of us).
Don't worry, I've already Pm'd Doram about that.

Ok. The poll's been up for a few days now, so I'm sure everyone who wanted to vote, has, and the overwhelming response is... meh.
There is one vote for yes, and 0 votes for no, so yes it is.
I'll write the Caption Contest Results up now.

I didn't even notice that poll at all

*shrugs*

but yes I agree since all tries to contact Sk seem to keep failing

*tension*

Also: 1) shouldn't the Hunt start on the 31st, as LL ends on the 30th, and 2) what does the "+0200" in the timer mean?

Thank you, FF.

Rating standards: show
1 star: (0 - 5.75 in LDC) These levels need a lot of work. They're totally un-elaborated, and/or inherently flawed due to things like cutoff or enemy spam, or they're untested and there are too many bugs gameplay-wise, in short: Many many things went wrong in such a level.

2 stars: (6 - 9.75) These levels are not terrible, but poor. They're too short, lack scenery or they have errors and/or bugs but it's still barely enjoyable. Again, spend more effort and try to do better. (if it's your first level that I rate two stars, it's not bad. There's a long way you can still go)

3 stars: (10 - 12.75) These levels are about mediocre. They may be still a little bit short, the gameplay is fine but not very original and graphics are also solid, but not breath-taking. Try to keep improving!

4 stars: (13 - 15) These levels are nice, but not the best. Effort has been put into them, there can some professionality be seen in gameplay and graphics, they're a nice experience to play, but there are still things you can do to make it even better. Try to go the extra mile!

5 stars: (15.25 - 20) These are really great levels, those which, as said, I would give more than 15 in an LDC. These suffice many high requirements, and it already goes into subtleties if you want to make them better. These levels are successful all around. Bravo.

These are just general principles I try to follow when rating. Sometimes I don't leave a further comment when rating, most times I do, if you have questions about it, feel free to ask further.

Shouldn't it be "+0100" for central european time?

(It's not that I would be fussed about extra time, just curious)

Well, daylight savings is in effect right now, so an hour is added in regions where it appleis. Technically, it should probably say UTC instead of GMT, but it mostly just means that it's your time zone. Don't think about it too much.

Besides, I'm not doing that calculation. Your browser is, depending on your computer's main clock.
