Gaming Caption Topic

Postby Supershroom » July 22nd, 2015, 1:06 am

Make suggestions for the captions in here, as well as comment on others, and so we'll find a consensus for each caption. Since polls are not handy to create for seven captions within three / four days, Random.org will be the immediate tiebreaker in case we can't make a commitment for a single caption.

Also please use this topic to introduce all of the characters. I actually don't know more than half of them (Zelda, Portal 2, Minecraft, Pokkén), and this will make it easier for everyone else to find ideas.

Lemme start with a try for the first picture:

The jump which caused a six-month gaming break for Nintendo players all over the world - right after leaping over Chain Chomp, he suffered a cruciate rupture in his right knee.

These are our final captions: show
1. Mario suddenly realizes that healing over Chain Chomp was a huge mistake. His knee is swollen ... this doesn't look good.
2. "Hey! You gotta pay me for these pots!" - "uh oh, gotta go fast..."

7. Mario.exe has encountered a serious error. Now Mario is transformed into a toy plane ... Bowser's gonna be amused next time he visits the toy store.

1 star: (0 - 5.75 in LDC) These levels need a lot of work. They're totally un-elaborated, and/or inherently flawed due to things like cutoff or enemy spam, or they're untested and there are too many bugs gameplay-wise, in short: Many many things went wrong in such a level.

2 stars: (6 - 9.75) These levels are not terrible, but poor. They're too short, lack scenery or they have errors and/or bugs but it's still barely enjoyable. Again, spend more effort and try to do better. (if it's your first level that I rate two stars, it's not bad. There's a long way you can still go)

3 stars: (10 - 12.75) These levels are about mediocre. They may be still a little bit short, the gameplay is fine but not very original and graphics are also solid, but not breath-taking. Try to keep improving!

4 stars: (13 - 15) These levels are nice, but not the best. Effort has been put into them, there can some professionality be seen in gameplay and graphics, they're a nice experience to play, but there are still things you can do to make it even better. Try to go the extra mile!

5 stars: (15.25 - 20) These are really great levels, those which, as said, I would give more than 15 in an LDC. These suffice many high requirements, and it already goes into subtleties if you want to make them better. These levels are successful all around. Bravo.

These are just general principles I try to follow when rating. Sometimes I don't leave a further comment when rating, most times I do, if you have questions about it, feel free to ask further.

I definitely look forward to this event but I definitely urge us to tread lightly with each other- humor's super subjective but also super sensitive and sometimes it's very hard to intentionally be funny. Deal and accept criticism with grace. :)

1. And Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiieiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii will always looooooooooooooove youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

2. Link: This only happens in the Warthog neighborhoods!

3. At this point P-Body's just wondering how much he can sell the "Days Since A Nuclear Holocaust" sign for.

4. In the face of game failure after game failure, TeamSonic's taken drastic measures to steal some talent. Having taken note of Link's horrendous agility in Smash, the heist is confirmed.

5. Can't tell if a crowd of creepers or the streets of Colorado

6. At this moment Ash is wondering if the gym leader might have conned him into an unbalanced matchup

7. I hear this is what the dartboard for Bowser's target practice looks like.

Maybe try to make them a liiiiiiitle bit longer.

I liked your third one, while for 5) and 6) I can't judge the content because I really know NOTHING about the scenes displayed there ...

And MoD doesn't the corrupted Mario face rather look like a toy airplane? Also the tense: Isn't I've heard... more fitting than I hear...?

Also good (both of you), especially Kab's second one. For the seventh however ... it refers to the first one, an independent one would be better.

I can't help but I really grin when thinking of Mario being a toy plane, as well as suffering a cruciate rupture with all its consequences ... By the way edited the first post to something less boulevard-like, as well as collecting all of the other suggestions being made.

Still not sure how we reach a decision, though. Maybe we can try to mix some of them, e.g.:

Mario: "DIEEE!"
Chain-Chomp: "COME AT ME BRO!"
Mario: "Noooo, I'll get you!"

Mario jumps right at Chain-Chomp, but misses and lands unfortunately ... he's got a cruciate rupture.

Re: Gaming Caption Topic

Postby Supershroom » July 25th, 2015, 1:09 am

We need a decision soon, guys. I'm trying to mix some of them a bit now a bit if possible, trying to let everyone be approximately equally represented.

1. Mario suddenly realizes that healing over Chain Chomp was a huge mistake. His knee is swollen ... this doesn't look good. (me/Kab)
2. "Hey! You gotta pay me for these posts!" - "uh oh, gotta go fast..." (Jumbo/Kab)
3. At this point P-Body's just wondering how much he can sell the "Days Since a Nuclear Holocaust" sign for. (MoD)
4. And so Link collects the Triforce and ... wait. (Jumbo)
5. Can't tell if a crowd of creepers or the street of Colorado (MoD)
6. Suicune uses super awesome destructive destroyer charge, but unfortunately his trainer has failed to consider type effectiveness. (Jumbo/Kab)
7. Mario.exe has encountered a serious error. Now Mario is transformed into a toy plane ... Bowser's gonna be amused. (Jumbo/MoD/a bit of me)

I'm a bit confused of the character of Pic 4 - looks like Sonic has slipped into Link's shoes and green clothes ... so is it Link or is it Sonic? Please explain.

It is Sonic. In Sonic Lost World, a DLC lets you explore a zone inspired by Hyrule, and Sonic would also wear Link's clothes.

1. Mario practices for the next Olympic games in an entirely inopportune space.
2. Link was faced with the bill of hundreds of smashed pots. As you can see, this is a new experience for him. (Jumbo/Kab)
