As for your team's color, you can switch with another team if both teams are okay with the change.
A team symbol would be sweet, but it would be wiser to wait a little bit before making one...

Hopefully you all caught that- definitely sounds like the upcoming art contest will, in fact, be related to the Runolympics, and that we'll be expected to make some form of logo or symbol that summarizes our team.
Personally, that's great news to me. Talking to a few of you, it's pretty obvious that this event is not going to be our forte, but a symbol has a lot of potential. It can be intricate, and I'm sure a few other teams will take that route, but often a clean and professional logo is better than one that tries to overwhelm customers (or judges, in this case) with loads of fancy filters and photo manipulation.
With this in mind, I think we might actually have a chance here. So, a couple things to think about before the deadline tomorrow evening:
- Who will represent us? Obviously, our representative should have some experience with art.
- What are the iconic elements of our team? User avatars/signatures, notable interests, what things make us stand out both online and offline?
- How will we incorporate those elements? What mediums are our potential reps most experienced with, and will that work in the context of the contest? How will it be put together and presented?
On the IRC earlier, I was suggested as a potential representative. I'm not particularly thrilled by this (hell has truly frozen over when I am the guy who may stand the best chance in anything art related), but I'm open to the idea if we need a rep, so... my qualifications:
- I am:
- a very new "artist", having seriously made an effort maybe a month ago.
- most experienced with digital mediums, specifically Paint.net.
- familiar with most common features, including color manipulation, layering and transparency, line and shape tools.
- probably capable of figuring out more advanced features that may be needed.
- able to create small scale pixel art from scratch, and create passable larger scale projects from stock images.
- I am not:
- particularly efficient at any of the above, yet.
- able to sketch by hand or paint at all.
- very good at picking appropriate colors for the job at hand.
- able to create large projects without a base image or several.
- good at saving my work at intermediate stages- this has screwed me over more than once.
- Examples of my work (Also, literally the only serious art I've ever done in my life):
- Titlecard for my 25quared entry, my very first project.
- A bunch of Minecraft textures, some of which can be found in the second spoiler here, my current ongoing project.
