Err, MoD, I know you're well-respected and all, but really? Have you not been User Representative and/or Moderator for long before demoting yourself that you think that work solves everything here? I think not. I've seen so many good ideas been thrown away, tabled, or even been announced it WILL happen just from the userbase, and the staff won't do a single thing. A lack of motivation from higher power to actually come up with a product will destroy what work was done to contribute. I've exactly seen this happen more times than I can count in Runouw alone, and that is what kills the site. Sure, people like to stick with what origins there are, but what is being done to improve the user experience? Here, let me bring to attention a few issues that have been addressed by the userbase and the moderators don't do a thing about:
The Bugs/Suggestions forum. Many bugs/glitches/site issues have been addressed and yet there is no change or moderator input (namely from Suyo and Runouw) on the status of aforementioned issues. The suggestions forum contains ideas on what people want, but nothing is never done with them, and no official approval/rejection is given by GMod/Admin.
Forum Cleanup. This was posted by Buff, if I recall correctly, months ago. There has been nothing to follow-up on the proposal and it seemed to me that people were all for it.
A better means of letting the normal user have an actual voice/apply for moderator/whatever. Where's the work if there aren't willing/motivated users? Revamping this site to attract both new and veteran users is an arduous but possible task, and what moderators are in power are apparently not stepping in. From what I hear as well, a certain User Representative is letting their opinion be known and their pretty much being ignored entirely.
There are several smaller issues, but I'd imagine you get the point. We users, no matter how much we screw around, can't do jack ♥♥♥♥ with just words when the rest of the staff can't/won't follow up. If real life is a concern for you, then you shouldn't necessarily be on staff in the first place. It is a privilege and a responsibility to serve the user as best as you can. This is why we nominate other people/have a place to apply for moderatorship somewhere in order to get stuff done in place of the other person, not because it's a different colored placard that denotes absolutely nothing except that you have the power to swing the banhammer.
Being tasked with running a RP, I know what it's like to run a site. It's extremely hard to please everyone and to push updates often, especially when real life issues pop up for me and my partner a lot. MoD, I know you mean well, but stop and think about how this site runs. On my very first night on Runouw, I posted a huge ♥♥♥ list of all the issues I had with the site, and nothing was done about them, even though Suyo posted. I did work to find all of them (until 3 in the morning, might I add?), so you say I must do more work? What might it be? Do I have to rewrite the entire mainframe of Runouw to fix everything when I have no say in what goes on or happens, if anything does? Please, tell me, as an ex-moderator/staff member, what did you do, in terms of work, that made the site better and it wasn't just banning bot/deleting posts/moderating user behavior?
I've a nasty habit for ranting like this, but I felt like you were slightly misguided in what you said, so I apologize if I said anything out of line that I shouldn't have. My opinion is usually disregarded and quite often reprimanded on other sites, and I'd assume you would all be proper adults and take this as constructive criticism than just trying to 'cause drama', as I'm labelled so many times.
Also, for Runouw Votes, it's also very biased, from what I can tell. People will be silly and vote for more than one person or may nominate themselves. Let's face it, it's going to happen, and people are going to consistently get nominated/voted for the same awards no matter what. I personally think that they shouldn't exist anymore, but since that would cause a very catastrophic uprising against me, I suggest a one-person-per-vote and you may only nominate that person once. While it's not foolproof, it'll bring some variety to the nominees.
