You're welcome.

Serious topic? How can anything involving Chatbango be serious?

Just pitching in with my two cents, but... uhh... this is why we have Skype. Seriously guys, if we all got together and abandoned Craptango, life would be better. Like actually doing it. Not "THIS IS REBELLION" and then three hours later I'm the only guy there.

http://www.runouw.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=35688 Just saying.

While I do like the idea of Skypeing, sadly, not everyone can just resort to switching to something different. So though I would reccomend this, we just can't do it unless everyone can switch to Skype.

-This post merely serves for people who shall migrate to Mibbit, and will brief them over for the optimal experience. Please link people to this post-

LINK TO MIBBIT

1) YOUR NAME
When you first join, register your Runouw username. This is imperative, otherwise impostors can steal your name.
   A) Make sure you're using the nickname you want; change to the name you want to register using "/nick [Nickname you want here]", if you aren't using it already.
   B) Type out "/ns register [Password] [E-mail]" to register the nickname under that email and password.
   C) Go to the inbox of the email address you entered, find the confirmation email and copy the "/ns confirm [Confimation code]" part.
   D) Go back to Mibbit, paste what you just copied and hit Enter. It should tell you that your name has been registered.
   E) Now, every time you come onto Mibbit, login to your name with "/ns identify [Name password]".
--If someone else is on your nickname, kick them off it with "/ns GHOST [Name] [Name password]", and then take it back with "/nick [Name]".

2) GENERAL COMMANDS
/nick [Name] - Changes your name to the given parameter. Please note it may be registered, and thus you should get off it like a leopard on a vinyl recorder.
/minify [URL] - You no longer need bit.ly or anything of the kind! Just pop your URL in at the given point, hit Enter, and your URL is milkshaked! Uh, I mean shortened.
/help - Hopefully you know what this does. (And if you don't, it shows available commands. This post is so redundant now :>)
/ulshow, /ulhide - Shows and hides the user list respectively. Great for non-monitor-space-fags. :troll:
/away [Reason (optional)], /back - "Sheldor is AFK. It means "Away from keyboard." Sheldor is back online." 'nuff said.
/hints - Just for novelty, this command shows the current keywords being used by Google for pumping out ads. The results are pretty hilarous on an average Runouw.com conversation.

3) MAKING AND MANAGING YOUR OWN CHANNEL
/join #[Channel] - Opens a new chat tab with the given channel name. If you have a star by your name (meaning you're a moderator), it's unregistered.
/cs register #[Name of channel] [Password (optional)] [Description of room (optional)] - This command registers the room you're in if it's unregistered.
--Make sure that channels you register are visited by you at least every 30 days, otherwise they will expire and be unregistered.
/h [Name] or /o [Name] - Gives halfop or op status to a user, respectively. Halfops have less privileges than full ops, as the name implies. (It's also possible to have "op and a half", but that's                                        for novelty AFAIK.)
/mode #[Name of channel] [+/-][mode] - This is gonna need quite an explanation.
--The command sets the modes of the channel. This has three main variables - m, n and t.
The variable m decides whether or not only people with voice (given with /v [Name]) can chat.
The variable n decides whether or not people from outside of the channel can talk into the channel (which is done with /msg #[Channel name] [Message] or /notice #[Channel Name] [Message])
The variable t defines if only people with powers can set the topic (which is actually pretty redundant as no-one bothers with topics).
For example, /mode #ChannelofRandom -n would take away the n setting on channel "ChannelofRandom" (which is NOT a good idea. n and t were designed as spam filters.)
All channels start off with settings n and t on, and m off.
The variable m is useful in a quiz channel, as you can give and take away voices on people according to whether it's their turn to give an answer.
/kick [Reason (optional)] - Temporarily boot out any users that are bugging you. In other words, kick them out of the channel. You can also add a reason for extra effect :D
/mode #[Channel Name] +b [nickname]![username]@[hostname] - Riiiiiight. First, finding out the nick, username and hostname. All of which are conveniently on the whois page for the      selected user (just click on their name in the userlist, hit Whois, and you have the info). After that, fill out the fields, hit Enter, and that person just got banhammered.
--/ban (space) - Yeah. Type out /ban, then hit the spacebar, then hit Enter. This shows the banlist; you can unban people from here.

4) HAPPY MIBBITING!

I NOW OWN THE IRC ROOM

so yeah, after nobody visited for like eternity, me and Ampy came on and then I registered the channel under my name. Suyo, I can send you the founder password and then de-op myself when you get around to it.

Why would you register it under your name? If it's dead, leave it.

I still use Mibbit for private conversations on forum projects and stuff, which is actually what me and MK were using it for today.
