Well, Raz has done some good work on a wikia hosted wiki, and I just got ahold of Blablob, who has been holding on to runouw.wikia.com this whole time, so we're gonna put the two together and see if we can't get this whole thing properly rebooted.

*crosses his fingers*

Well, that page is done by someone other than blab, it's just what ended up being out there while blab wasn't looking. We can kill it, or bloody well mention it in community stuff, as we see fit, once we can move in. Waiting on one more thing, and then we can blast forward.

Pardon the double post, but I figured the update was noteworthy.

Authority has been passed to interested individuals, and work has already begun on the new wiki: http://runouw.wikia.com

I'm working hard on getting the Hub pages up, and then we can start filling in all the gaps. I will post again once the Hub pages are all set up. One thing that you can all do, in the mean time, is log in to the wiki and edit your profiles. We'll use those for the detailed info on the Users page.

EDIT:
The Hub Pages are 80% done. Anywhere you see a red link, that means I made a link to a page that doesn't exist yet. Feel free to start making those pages. I'll keep generating framework pages if you guys start filling in the details.

EDIT 12/8:
As posted in the News thread:

The wiki is starting to shape up into what we (all right, I) have always wanted.
Come on over and start contributing!

So, I'm now in charge of the first post (Thank You Chau!!) and it has been updated to the new site.

*cheers and jumps for joy*

Wiki News:

I finally fixed all the problems with the main page and the advertisements, and also finally figured out the problems with the Game Infobox Template! *cheers wildly*

And I have also put up a poll on the wiki (on the right hand side) with a question for anyone interested in the wiki: Should I turn on Achievements on the Wiki? Head on over and Vote!

Please note that these achievements would be for your Wikia accounts, and would not affect your Runouw Forum account... for now...?
For more info on the Wikia Achievements, read their Help Page

On one hand, I think it'd be a way to get some attention on the wiki. On the other hand, though... How limited are you with them? I checked out the about link and it seemed like they were mostly based on edits. Postcount fad much? Without carefully thinking through the achievement criteria (or barring all but trusted members from making edits, but then why bother having achievements at all?) we could see numerous edits by people hunting for the award instead of contributing. Even worse, some of these edits may be altering important information, and otherwise making it more difficult to find previous edits where all the information was correct and up to date.

I'm thinking we could get away with it, and that it would be a positive thing, but it would mean we'd need to check it every few weeks to prevent abuse.

Well, the help article does address that:
Wikia wrote:One of the editors on my wikia is making bad edits and doesn't deserve to earn a badge for them. Can I take their badges away?
Once a badge is awarded, it can't be taken away. If someone is making silly edits just to get badges, then you can leave them a message on their talk page about it. As always, it's best to assume good faith - they may not realize that they're doing anything wrong. Talking to them usually helps! If someone is vandalizing the wikia and fails to respond to messages, then blocking them from the wikia is an option.

What happens to the badges of a blocked user?
Users who have been blocked from editing will have their badges removed and will vanish from the leaderboard (if they have been on there). Once the user is unblocked, their total badge and point count will be returned. If they are still eligible for the leaderboard, they will return there as well.

Ultimately, the rules we have for the forum can apply to the wiki as well, and I suppose we could make that more clear. (Our existing rules include no spamming/postcounting, for example.) Ultimately, we may want to revisit the Wiki Mod position as part of this, to have someone dedicated to monitoring things over there.

Hoo. Got so busy during the holidays that I forgot to post the December news.

So, here's TWO news updates!

Wiki News

New pages!
Doram Baramour - January 10, 2015

Hey Wiki visitors, this is just a quick update: I've taken a bit of a break from the massive work of porting and updating the Super Mario 63 LD Guide to add a couple of other new pages.

Have you ever wanted to make some graphics for the site and add the Runouw Logo to it? How about that iconic cityscape in the header? Well, now's your chance. Check out Forum Art! Documented here, for all time, is my collection of isolated forum graphic elements from my old thread (which will point here from now on).

And, for all the CyTube fans out there, our channel it has its own page now! Check it out for a command list and all of the moderator's playlists.

SM63 Project: Write the Play Guide
Doram Baramour - December 26, 2014

Ok, Here's our first major project: We need to write the SM63 Play Guide. This means going through the walkthroughs on the forums, and bringing them over.

Nin is starting work over there, and I have put a loose framework in place for the first page. Generally, the Play Guide should cover basics and advanced play mechanics and then go into a walkthrough for Story Mode. a.k.a. everything you need to play the game. Each of the titles on the main guide page will be their own pages, and each level will have their own page - please name the pages with the level name followed by " (SM63) (Level)" - so that we can put lots of information for each, like Secrets, Tips & Tricks, Trivia, Maps, etc. (A lot of the time, we will want to split lists of stuff into bunches of individual pages)

Remember, this is only for playing the main game (and by extension PLAYING LD levels). Don't worry about the Level Designer. All that stuff goes into the LD Guide (which I am already working on porting over from my old files).

Also, be sure to read the tips in my first News Post, and check out the Community Area for even more help.
