In a few years time the chat could become deserted! I've seen others that have literally been overrun by spammers. Nothing but advertisement in every post! It's not pretty. It's like a ghost chat.

Nah.. If you guys honestly think this site might get shut down because of a few measly spammers, think again. That's exactly what those bots want site owners to do! Runouw's not stupid, so they're just going to get pwned over and over.

I don't think they want the site to shut down, then they will lose all those that go on their sites.

Yeah, I was just messing around a bit there. :P

The bots are just programmed to advertise a person's product/website on any forum they come across. I guess php gets flooded with a few extras here and there.

Hmm…that's an interesting development…but guys, I would hardly get worked up over this. The forums won't be shut down or anything. The mods will handle the spammers as they've done before. I'm not sure what the union against spammers would do exactly, but certainly another mod or two would help reduce the amount of time to get rid of spammers. It wouldn't reduce the number or the ingenuity of their methods, but it might help.

I don't know why I'm bringing this up but......If we get the new mod that we're talking about then that would help put more spammers down.

I reported most of the spam from a spambot, AstelsRot.

But I know that if you see one spam post, go to the board index, and look for spam in the other forums here. (Spambots are most likely to post in the Welcome forum here.)
