Everyone has been going 'Oh come on, surely it's easy to get the old chat back? Just limit the messages and delete the archive. Done.'

The reason the chat crashed has nothing to do with the archive, or number of messages.
The crash was due to there being too many people on the chat.
This incident had NOTHING to do with anything other than there being too many people on the chat.
Please regard this, and in future do not moan. The mods are trying to get it back.

It has something to do with the amount of messages. The fact that there were so many of them and that there were so many people on caused the host to take down the site. It was taking up too much processing power.

For proof, look at anyone's profile. Under Chat Posts, there should be a very small number or no number at all, which means that they've been busy deleting.
