How to make invisible text.

Postby Germanity » January 29th, 2010, 6:10 pm

Wanna post a secret little joke that only the witty few will know? Use invisible text!

*Credit goes to TheBetterGamer for discovering this before me*

Step 1: Make your post. Can't go much farther without doing this.

Step 2: Choose the word(s) you want to be invisible. For an example, I'm going to use "My Name is Germanity".
Example: My name is Germanity.

Step 3: At the beginning and the end of your chosen phrase, put the color tags around it.
Example: [ color ]My name is Germanity.[ /color]
As you know, remove the spaces.

Step 4: Now, you will need the hexadecimal value of the color of the forum background. In this case, the hex value is E1EBF2 (I'm not 100% sure it needs to be caps, but better safe than sorry.)
Step 4a: If you have the lighter color post (the forum posts come in two colors), use the value ECF3F7

Step 5: Insert the hex value into your color tags.
Example 1: [ color=#E1EBF2 ]My name is Germanity.[ /color ]
Example 2: [ color=#ECF3F7 ]My name is Germanity.[ /color ]

Step 6: Preview your post to make sure you did it right.

Now, in order to read highlighted text, you must highlight the post to check for any.
Invisible text 1-->Quoting the post also helps.<--
Invisible text 2-->Also, look for unnatural and additional spaces.<--

Hope you liked!

Oh, you found the exact color value? Nice! What program/method/whatever did you use to figure this out? I'd like to know...
Also, this color doesn't seem to fit the reply box exactly. Can you find this one too, if it's not too much trouble?

Cool, it works. Awesome, amazing, cool, clever, strange, did I say cool yet? Peculiar, queer, unbelievable, I am going to stop using adjectives now if that is ok with everyone

Very nice :D , However, as you can see, every second post has a slightly different color background. Can you find the hexadecimal value of the color for this background, too?

Absolutely.

ECF3F7

-------------------------------

To find the value of a color, you must first find out what the red, green and blue values of the color are. To help, take a screenshot and paste it onto paint. Next, use the "Pick Color" button, it should look like an eyedropper, which looks like this:

Image

Go to the color menu, and click on "edit colors." Click on the "Define Custom Colors" button. Here, you should be able to view your RGB value of the selected color. Take note of the numerical value next to the color. (NOTE: Ignore the Hue, Sat and and Lum, they serve no purpose here.)

Now, open the calculator application or use any calculator that can convert Decimal numbers to Hexadecimal numbers. Type in the Red value first, for an example, we'll use 127. Click on the button saying "Hex" (or use the proper calculator function) and you should get a hexadecimal digit that is equal to the decimal number.

127 would equal 7F, for example, so red is 7F.

Now, convert the Green value second and the Blue value third. It is very important that you do this in order. (Green will be 96 here and Blue would be 180 for this example)

Green = 60
Blue = B4

You should now have three hexadecimal numbers, one for each color value. Now, it's time to put them together. Take the red value, and place it first.

#7F _ _ _ _

Place the green value second.
#7F60 _ _

Place the blue value third.
#7F60B4

You now have your hexadecimal value for the color, 7F60B4. 7F60B4 would look like this.

Or, you could just go here: http://www.psyclops.com/tools/rgb/ You still need to find the RGB value, though.
DUE TO UNFORSEEN CIRCUMSTANCES, I WILL BE GONE FOR AN INDEFINATE - BUT LONG - AMOUNT OF TIME. FAREWELL.
