Forum Interest

Postby JStunn » June 8th, 2011, 12:54 pm

Overall, many people do not even know that forums exist on Runouw. That's a bit of a problem. Other sites have very active forums but this site...doesn't...

But we need to change it somehow. We have to think of ideas...

One of my ideas is to have a "Points Based System" or something like that.

What are your ideas?

This might work: Basically, just put Runouw's games all over the internet in tons of other game websites. Since many people are Mario fans, they will probably love this game, and so they will see runouw.com on the game menu, and see that it will say: "To learn more and interact with other players and level designers, go to our forums!" or something similar. You gotta advertise to make yourself popular! :P

But many websites may steal the credit for SM63. THAT'S a common practice too.

Unfortunately, it's not as simple as putting his games all over the internet. If I'm correct (and believe me, I can be incorrect about this type of stuff), advertising his game would cost him money depending on where he advertises it. Newgrounds is probably the most popular gaming website in the world. In essence, the more high-quality games he submits to their website (as well as SheezyArt), the more users will join the forums.

One of my ideas is to have a "Points Based System" or something like that.

What are your ideas?

Mmm, maybe they should be submitted at least one successful post , approved, reasonable post in forums to submit their first level.
In this way, we need:
One more mod. (To approve craploads of posts.)

So that we can solve the bad level makers or spammers.
And at least they can make their level.
And encourage people to make their good levels.

As you said your point-based system, I put it in my idea.

Points start with 10 for all user to be fair and to give more chance at the first.
Point can be getted by

  • Chatting (Maybe 0.001 point per words.)
  • Posting (Maybe 0.005 point per words.)
  • Making good level (Maybe 0.0001 point per code-character.)
  • Making items for runouw.com
  • Suggesting good suggestion (Determine to the suggestion's level)
  • Reputation (Need Reason, equal to 1/4 of the rep)
  • Daily performance
Point can be lost by
  • Spamming
  • Flaming
  • Spam-Reporting
  • Spamming level
  • Bad level making
  • Challenge Mods
  • Negative Reputation
  • Spamming Reputation System
  • Any rules in runouw broke.

Point Unlock:
  • 1 Level---1 post
  • 2-10 Levels---5 points
  • 11-25 Levels---10 points
  • 26-50 Levels---15 points
  • 51-100 Levels---20 points
  • 100> Levels---30 points
Punishment and Commendation
  • < -50 Points Perma Ban
  • -45 Points Final warning
  • -40 Points 2 months Ban
  • -35 Points warning
  • -30 Points 1 months Ban
  • -25 Points warning
  • -20 Points 2 weeks Ban
  • -15 Points warning
  • -10 Points 1 week Ban
  • -5 Points warning
  • 0 Point announce you that you're in danger of negative points

In this way, we can give the bad users a chance to correct, forgive themself, instead of just perma banning like mad.

-9001 IP Ban (Only reduced to this any points after Perma.)

No that sucks, let me add two more points.

Reregistering: Instantly lead to -40 points. Nomatter how many points you've.

IP Ban: Double Reregistering

Triple Rereg: "Account Suspended"

Republic wrote:(Point system and speech here)

This idea seems good but it's a bit of a fantasy really.
I don't see a system which would give the points automatically abiding by all of these things.
Most of them intercept to be honest, like the bad level making and the points per level posting; You could make and absolutely Bullcrap level and you would get points for it, and making it very long could overtake the penalty.

But back to my first reason, you'd need a mod to award all these and that would just pile more and more work onto the mods Ect.

Now my opinion on this sites inactivity:

Well this site is most inactive because:
  • It's still a bit new.
  • As said earlier, not broadcasted on sites much.
  • It is also as also said because of game credit stealers. People think that that site made the game ths them joining their forums.
I'm Pretty sure I should put something here...
