I'm Resigning

Yes, you've seen mods resign and now it's my turn. I'm resigning from my Story Mod position.

MoD gave me a task to do, story related, and now that it's done. I'm quitting.

Now why you ask? Well, three Story Mods have been chosen to take care of Stories and the Story Portal. But in my opinion, that is too much. Earlier when the job started, there have been a few spammers to keep me occupied, I'd disapprove the post and it's done. But now that the feature is gone. There is nothing to do. No topics to lock, since hardly anybody makes stories now and when they do they are usually fine. Nothing to sticky, nothing is supposed to be stickied except the two already stickied. Nothing to approve in the Story Portal. At the time, the Story Portal was big and it was something a couple people were REALLY looking forward to, including me. When it was released, it got little attention, and now it's basically dead. So with nothing to approve, it gets pretty annoying as a Story Moderator knowing that I'm not doing anything. I've been ♥♥♥♥♥ to a lot of people about how much I hate this job because of how boring it is. The only perk to this job is a bolded, white name. So, I finally took action, I did that last request asked by MoD and now my time as a Story Mod is up.

Now I am looking for something else. Something that I would be interested in doing and commit to it. Unfortunately, I don't think a job like that is available. The job of a Moderator.

I know I'm probably sounding like a greedy ♥♥♥♥♥, but this is my choice.

Jello and Chau, if the position starts to miraculously get hectic, then I wish the two of you the best of luck because I know the both of you are good Story Mods.

...this reminds me of this one douche who campaigned to be a moderator and when he got it he caused 6 months of endless controversy. He's cool now, though.

I see where you're coming from, but just because you have nothing to do doesn't mean you should resign. If you do resign, then best of luck.. not being a Story Mod, and getting another job.

If it comes to it though, you could always try applying to become a level mod, or even a UR.

We really have to talk about this whole Story Portal issue in F23 sometime. It was definitely a neat idea while it lasted, but it's obviously starting to die now. Personally I see little point in a staff position where there's next to nothing to do. I know a lot of effort went into the portal, and I'm really sad to have seen its downfall in popularity. This forum wasn't made for stories, though, which is why the portal isn't thriving (though it's probably also due to the fact that the portal is rather difficult to find right now--very inconvenient). Sad to see great ideas go downhill like this, it really is.

Anyways, Avo, I completely understand how you feel right now. A new mod isn't necessarily needed right now, and I'm not promising anything, but I will make considerations and try and go over the possibility with the other mods. For now, though, you get a kickass gold color.

This is what I expected, whenever a mod resigns, people jump up to try and take their job. To be honest, like I said. I think 2 Story Mods are enough, plus you got MoD, Suyo, Blab and Four (Wherever he is) as well. Since the Stories section is small and there is little activity, I think two is enough. So if you are gonna ask for the position, just don't get your hopes up since I think there isn't a need for another.

I can see how it wouldn't make sense but what's done is done. I didn't enjoy my job and what do you do when you don't enjoy your job? Quit.

And like I said, I'm done with anything level related, contests, designing, reviewing. I'm just not interested in it. However, I haven't thought about UR...

However, look at the bright side. You are still an awesome member, and you should be thankful that you actually got a job.

I was thankful at the time, it was kinda cool to finally get a job like that.

Hey, about the Story Portal, it may have been a flop, but it served its purpose. It reignited people's passion for writing, which is what I wanted. You guys are great writers, and those who aren't great yet, are swiftly learning. And it's nice to be among company again. I guess that's what I wanted to do.
