Runouw Votes Discussion

Thumbs up x1

I'm aware that higher ups probably already talk about this a lot on Forum 23, but this topic is for the public.

Talk about the current Runouw Votes, or about what can be done to improve the system.

Instead of posting, we can have a voting poll and have a list of nominees. People can discuss who shall be the nominees so their won't be voting for random people.

That's what we do. We choose the nominees and then vote.

Sometimes I doubt people think their nominations through. If it's "Winter 2012", I think we should stick with people that have been active through last 6 months. I feel that a lot of the nominees so far have left for a significant amount of time or do not do what they were nominated for much anymore. I haven't seen Blablob or Panik around posting much lately.

I also notice that some people don't know what cite a resource means. Give an example of what hidden talent your nominee excels in. TBH, I haven't heard much about Myst, other than she's ninja. I don't think that qualifies as an official hidden talent. It's a title, people.

Maybe we should cite or comment about all our nominations next time? And serious ones. I really don't see reasons for some of the nominations, as clearminded as I think about competitions like this.

Are people really reading the first post or are they just copy&pasting the template in the code tags?

Use something like Google Docs for nominations, to make it more cleaner.

I agree with nin, but MK, I meant to have a poll with limited nominees decided and approved by us. The nominees will include people who have been active over the last six months. The voting will be like clicking the dot and submitting your vote. This may help from people voting for other random people. It may take a lot of time and work but it may be more efficient than counting posts.

Using a poll here is ineffective... you can see the results...

That's what we did for the last Runouw Votes and that's what we're planning on doing for this one. We aren't using the forum's poll generator as that'd be too much confusion.

If you read the first post on the new thread, MoD states that this is the system we are doing. Nominations are just that. Nominations. The amount of times a person is nominated doesn't matter.

I don't think User Reps count as staff. Their position is to represent the Users(surprising I know :O), as their name implies.

Lol, I noticed a lot of the user reps were voted for best staff. But then would that not count?

Also, is there a way you can make a voting system that doesn't allow you to vote for yourself? It'll make people avoid the temptation of cheating, and just cheat in general.
