To the Makers of "Ask _______" Topics

Okay, I'm getting tired of all the pointless Ask Me topics spamming the off topic section of the forum. There's like 5 or 6 of them at the moment, and will probably continue to grow. I liked the idea, but we only need 1 or 2, not 50. So I'd like to ask for you guys to STOP MAKING ASK TOPICS.

(feel free to lock this if you thought it was pointless guys, but I want to make a message to everyone)

You, my dear sir, just won my entire respect (though it's been a long time since you won it, but you won it once again).

There are exactly 14 topics in the Off-Topic forum on the 2 first pages where you asked stuff to people. No joke.

Everyone, you guys, just lost my respect :3 Seriously, no. One, okay. Two, sure. Fourteen, no.

*Shrug* I am neither for or against "Ask ___" topics, but I did want to point out one important point -> Forum = "Off Topic". The threads aren't supposed to be on any one topic, that's why they are there. If there is a fad going on right now where there are a number of similar threads, then that is simply what is popular, and the trend will wane in time. Yes, as a fad, it may be annoying, but the best thing about fads sometimes is that they end. I wouldn't stress too much about it.

That being said, I appreciate you letting us know how you feel about the site, and as such, this does indeed belong here in site discussion. To help you with your concern, maybe it's time for you to start a 'Who is tired of "Ask ___" threads?' thread in Off Topic, and see who else is tired of it. The attention that brings might bring a swifter end to the fad.

EDIT: Upon further reflection, I do believe I am at least partially for the "Ask ___" threads. I believe in open communication at all times, and saying to the forum that you are willing to let people ask you anything is a positive thing. There might be a better format to accomplish this, but the fundamental idea is a good one.

Lol, it's partly my fault for making an ask topic when they'd already lost their popularity. :3

But I don't think there's a problem with them, people have a right to an ask topic as it's how you find out more about a member on the site.

Some of these ask topics are inactive.

If someone won't respond you just ask somebody else.

Hmm...heh, well, I don't know how to handle this. I mean, I agree completely, it's gotten out of hand, but Doram is also right, it's good to have these kinds of topic for communication and getting to know the person more through asking serious questions (if we can actually take it seriously). Suyo had an idea to make an "Ask me" topic (I think he was the one who made the first topic) and people followed suit. Now today, we're left with a bombardment of these topics that aren't even active. Some of them are, but most are not.

Here's my proposal, and here me out. If this continues to become a problem and many more are made, I suggest bringing back the interview topic that K9 and Moy made back in 2010 (or 2011 (or maybe 2009 the hell if I know)). We pick a certain user, and others users can ask questions that the certain user can answer. It would really help with unclogging the off-topic toilet of these "Ask me" pieces of ♥♥♥♥ (pardon me).

If you guys think it's a good idea, then let's make it.

Btw, if you need help with unclogging your toilet, I demand 10 bucks an hour.

P.S.: It's quite something to see one of Doram's award-winning long ♥♥♥ posts and then immediately it's followed by Kevin not giving a ♥♥♥♥ and posting a sorta relevant Doctor Who gif. GG.

I think that's a good idea. It cuts down on pointless posts.
