Tons of non-URL-spam seems to be getting through, and a lot of it has the same structure. Where'd the "impenetrable" filter go?

Who said it was impenetrable? The spam filter stops those that have tons of links to different sites. It won't notice a post which has just words. As long as you don't reply to them and report the posts, they'll be dispatched very quickly.
