Ok. We've got a new chat. Yay. We have more control over it. Double Yay. What SHOULD we do with it? Hmm......

Well, I figured we have a Site Suggestions thread for the site, so it is only fair to have a Chat Suggestion thread for the chat. Post your suggestions here, and maybe Suyo will code them. *crosses fingers*

Even just something so mods get op when they sign in with their name? Implied here is the fact that mods would actually make the effort to sign in and moderate stuff. Before anyone thinks I'm accusing, it didn't happen last time on Mibbit.

Good idea, but there would need to be some kind of majority limit that would be impossible to reach with how many idlers there are on these days.

Apparently mine is still "Lucifer".

Plus I kinda prefer there not be a nick or 30-minute ban option. Since my desktop has apparently become the family desktop, the only means of access to the site are from my school laptop, and to access via that method, I have to use whatever wifi there is..and the wifi here sucks, both at home and school. Meaning that it'll disconnect, and I have to wait quite a bit for the server to catch up.

If I remember to /nick myself "Stoneheart", then it'll register that Lucifer is still able to connect to the server, and once I make a message with that account, I can renick myself Stoneheart again. It's more or less the problem I have, since I have to use Mibbit(IceChat can't find the GCG port, and my mIRC trial expired ages ago, rendering that option useless.)

So...yeah, I'd like to keep the /nick option if possible, due to technical difficulties...plus it's not an IRC without it.

The 30-minute-ban would also tie into my problem, unless you guys know of a way to make Mibbit realize my internet died.

Stone, that's what I mean. It doesn't have that sort of functionality yet, but it would pretty much need it with a system like that. it would be the same as the forums though, you couldn't have nicknames in the on site version, so they shouldn't be allowed on the #runouw channel. Any other channel would be fair game for nicknames.

But what I meant about votekicks is that if there's 11 people on chat, at least six would need to agree to the kick, right? Which would cause problems if 8 of them were idling. You could petition to kick the idlers, but they'd have a vote too and since 8 of them would be away there's no way the remaining 3 active people could have majority. Unless it was just a fixed X amount needed, in which case that would be cool but also more abuseable.

Also, once the mIRC trial runs out you just have to wait a bit for the Continue button to appear. Mine ran out 36 days ago and it still lets me on, at least.
