Verification Emails

I recently noticed that it is not required to verify your account to be able to post on Runouw. My suggestion is fairly simple: Initiate a verification process which may/may include: Clicking a verification link in said automated email, captchas, misleading text to differ people who don't read the rules/extra spambot protection, ect. If they fail to do this properly, they can be: reported automatically for failing spambot test, account locked/deleted by admin/Gmod staff, or other reasonable action if the account is suspected to be human/bot. If an account is made and no attempts to verify account have been made, then the account is subject to automatic deletion in x amount (a week?) of time.

At the least, a email verification process itself may deter at least a fair amount of spambots. Captchas don't cut it anymore, unfortunately.

This topic was made for user discussion and a means of possibly being implemented to help with the ever-growing population of spambots in Runouw.

Edit: Also, do think it would be highly ironic if a spambot posted in this? I'm highly tempted to provoke one of those bots to come and post, if it were possible.

Isn't verification one of the most basic security measures anyway? What happened to it?

Verification Emails are on. You have to confirm your email, like on most other forums. Spambots just have a way to clear that measure, because it's not terribly complicated to do that.

Lr said something about putting in a slider. Bot's can't slide sliders. usually.
