Otherwise, I'd like to see a large forum clean-up, with threads that haven't been posted in... say, a year, deleted in order to free the load on the servers a bit.

Eh. I don't really think it'd be neccessary. It'd cause more problems than fixes, they don't cause too much of a strain. (or any strain at all really) I'd like to preserve as many threads as we can.

I like looking back on old threads.

I still do on some forums that I'm still on, even if I acted like a little ♥♥♥♥ some five years ago. It's actually entertaining somehow.

Anyways, personally I think the staff is already doing an excellent job with how the place is running. I don't have any real suggestions or criticism, actually.
Expect something cool here soon!

Postby l.m » February 25th, 2015, 2:36 pm

I'd really like to suggest some things now.

First of all, many staff users have been really inactive these weeks. I can't see Buff, Nwolf, or some others posting/doing their job very often. Therefore, I think they should be demoted, or they should be active here again.

I do believe the staff needs a change, and I think it would be nice to promote some users. I know there's a big chance that we don't need promotions anyway, but if I really had to suggest new staff to be promoted, it would be Doram. He's been really helpful these times, and he gets stuff done. He did the Wiki, and added a lot of info to it. We can see him post occasionally on the Serious Discussion forums and sometimes in other forums, and he does his job well. And, he knows some stuff about coding, so he would be helpful to add some new implementations to the site.

I'll just leave my suggestion here.

I think everybody but Doram himself thinks he's fit for the promotion.

Yeah, I also think there could be some promotions - Doram is also becoming more active recently, and FF takes care a lot of the LDP, giving a lot of constructive critique to new users, and he's very active, so he could finely replace Nwolf.

We should keep two glomods and two mods at least in every case, so either Doram goes fully up to glomod, or Nin/Chau goes up to glomod and Doram goes up to mod.

The user rep replacement for Doram could be rather open...

Nan's sig! From the previous Secret Santa event!: show
Rating standards: show
1 star: (0 - 5.75 in LDC) These levels need a lot of work. They're totally un-elaborated, and/or inherently flawed due to things like cutoff or enemy spam, or they're untested and there are too many bugs gameplay-wise, in short: Many many things went wrong in such a level.

2 stars: (6 - 9.75) These levels are not terrible, but poor. They're too short, lack scenery or they have errors and/or bugs but it's still barely enjoyable. Again, spend more effort and try to do better. (if it's your first level that I rate two stars, it's not bad. There's a long way you can still go)

3 stars: (10 - 12.75) These levels are about mediocre. They may be still a little bit short, the gameplay is fine but not very original and graphics are also solid, but not breath-taking. Try to keep improving!

4 stars: (13 - 15) These levels are nice, but not the best. Effort has been put into them, there can some professionality be seen in gameplay and graphics, they're a nice experience to play, but there are still things you can do to make it even better. Try to go the extra mile!

5 stars: (15.25 - 20) These are really great levels, those which, as said, I would give more than 15 in an LDC. These suffice many high requirements, and it already goes into subtleties if you want to make them better. These levels are successful all around. Bravo.

These are just general principles I try to follow when rating. Sometimes I don't leave a further comment when rating, most times I do, if you have questions about it, feel free to ask further.

I've considered applying for level moderator (which is really weird) because I really wanna make sure the scene gets rolling again in 2015, but I'm all for promoting new talent first. FrozenFire would be aces for that.

I'm still not entirely sure what the technology status on Glomo is after Suyo. But I would not be against seeing Ninny in green. He's constantly impressed me.

As for updating to orange, I'm not against Doram but I'm also not convinced he's more active than potential retirees. His specialty has always been that of a User Rep who sparks fantastic discussion and mentors members of the site. His Wiki work has been incredible but I don't know if we should take focus away from that.

I'd actually consider Raz as a mod as I think he's matured, and really connects with a large portion of the population. Star king is also someone I feel is in a good state of mind to be a proper mod.

As far as the URs go, Usuario hasnt been active in a long time so we may need to let him go. I'd suggest Raiyunni and Lordpat.

These are just my two cents.

Re: Staff Suggestions

Postby Oranjui » March 8th, 2015, 8:06 am

As far as I know, user reps have two primary jobs. One is to provide input on staff discussions (hence the name, user representative -- standing up for what the users want), so they have access to the mod forum (and maybe the lemon forum? I'm not sure), and the other is to just be nice and helpful to people in general and serve as a role model for other users and represent the site as a whole (just as other staff do), thus the distinguished blurple names.

FF/Moy/Shroom have all had pretty good suggestions. I don't think we necessarily need to flood all of the positions with new people, but there are definitely some swaps that could be made.

Nin is extremely well qualified to take a glomo position I think, if he accepts it.

I can definitely see Raz in orange at this point, too. Stark, maybe...I haven't seen enough of him around to say very much here, since I don't really frequent many of the forums he appears to, and I've been rather inactive in general lately, but if you guys think so, I don't see anything wrong with it.

FF certainly deserves a lemon position. I'm not going to object to that. If for some reason there's need for more than 3 lemons, Moy would probably do well there.

URs...there are so many people who would be great here. Lordpat is my first nomination if all that's needed is a replacement for Usu. I can't really say that Doram is a bad choice for a mod, but I don't really think that activity necessitates promotion. He's fit for the position if he wants it, but like Moy said, it might take focus away from Wiki work and discussion. Rai, Nan, Harmless, BY, possibly Bog?, or many others could work if more are wanted, but I don't see any reason for there to be more than four or five.
