I THINK

We've been getting a lot of users who just sign up to advertise. The guy who was advertising Viagra was just freakin' hilarious, but it's getting annoying now. Hasn't anyone else noticed? Might something be attracting salespeople? I actually have the suspicion it's a single person, because of the multiple posts that only contain the advertisement as a title.

It's most annoying for us mods :P Although I'm making a "Nuke all posts of this user and ban him permanently" button currently.

I'll just quote something from the mysterious Forum 23 - the Staff Forum...

Maybe you could:
- Enable that you have to confirm your e-mail (almost no spambots and spammers have to give there real e-mail -> can e-mail ban)[...]

EDIT: Nevermind, It seems that the PHP mail() function is not working... I think it has to do with my web host.

Yeah, and thus, it's still open :< The biggest problem is that they eat traffic and thus we get that nice temporary suspension because of too much traffix screen.

Tis too bad. I hope he gets to it in the future. In the mean time, we'll just have to deal with it....

Definitely not. This is a forum; it relies on the fact that so many people join and contribute to it. Cutting off access to new members would effectively destroy it. And, these forums are far from too big; in fact, I think it may be a bit too small right now!
Those advertisers are easy to deal with, anyways. Just delete the topic and ban them. No biggie.

fourinone's right, PhyscoKamek. We currently have a little over 700 members, and that's far from too large. A typical forum has thousands; some of which you can't go ten seconds without at least one new post.

Collen, please stop bumping old topics which are already cleared up.
