Rather than point out all the outdated things currently, lets start from scratch and get everything.

-better formatting/organization
-remove friend/foes
-prettier page

Login and Registration Problems: show
    Why can’t I login?
  • There are several reasons why this could occur. First, ensure your username and password are correct. The site is case sensitive! If they are, you should see a test on the page saying that you have been banned and why. It is also possible that you ran into a bug a few browsers have with the site - remove your cookies and try again, or use another browser. If none of these are the case, your account may have been pruned for inactivity. In this case, feel free to register a new account.

Why do I get logged off automatically?
  • If you do not check the Log me in automatically box when you login, the board will only keep you logged in for a preset time. This prevents misuse of your account by anyone else, including siblings, classmates, roommates, etc. To stay logged in, check the box during login. This is not recommended if you access the board from a shared computer, e.g. library, internet cafe, university computer lab, etc. Checking the box in such an environment means your account is very likely to be compromised.

How do I prevent my username appearing in the online user listings?
  • Within your User Control Panel, under “Board preferences”, you will find the option "Hide your online status". Enable this option with "Yes" and you will only appear to the administrators, moderators and yourself. You will be counted as a hidden user.

    I’ve lost my password!
  • Don’t panic! While your password cannot be retrieved, it can easily be reset. Visit the login page and click "I’ve forgotten my password". Follow the instructions and you should be able to log in again shortly.

    I registered but cannot login!
  • First, check your username and password. If they are correct, then one of two things may have happened. If you were sent an e-mail, follow the instructions. If you did not receive an e-mail, you may have provided an incorrect e-mail address or the e-mail may have been picked up by a spam filer. If you are sure the e-mail address you provided is correct, try contacting an administrator.

    Why can’t I register?
  • It is possible the website owner has banned your IP address or disallowed the username you are attempting to register. Contact a board administrator for assistance.

What does the “Delete all board cookies” do?
  • “Delete all board cookies” deletes the cookies created by phpBB which keep you authenticated and logged into the board. It also provides functions such as read tracking if they have been enabled by the board owner. If you are having login or logout problems, deleting board cookies may help.

User Groups: show
What are Administrators and global moderators? - Administrators and global moderators are members assigned with the highest level of control over the entire board. These members can control all facets of board operation, including changing the style or interface of the site, setting permissions, performing staff changes, and setting up occasional subforums for events like Halloween or Christmas etc. These members also have full moderator capabilities in all forums.
    Permissions:

What are Moderators? - Moderators are individuals who look after the forums from day to day. They have the authority to carry out warnings and bans, and edit or delete posts and change the owner of a post, and lock, unlock, move, delete and split topics. Generally, moderators are present to prevent users from going off-topic or posting abusive or offensive material.
    Permissions:

What are Level Moderators? - This group of moderators only have powers in the Level Designer and Portal forums, and are the ones who will enforce the guidelines in the Level Portal. They approve or disapprove levels from new designers, and are often in charge of LDing-related events. They can also carry out warnings.
    Permissions:

    What are Site Representatives?
These members have limited special powers, but are mainly a group of normal users allowed in the Staff forums to discuss changes with the moderators and administrators. They are also the people you can contact if you have any questions about the forum, punishments you received or other things related to the forum.
    Permissions:

How do I become a staff member?
New staff members are chosen by the existing staff. There is currently no concrete procedure to be considered for a position. Typically, you will be contacted directly if you are considered. Otherwise, please do not ask.

    What is “The team” link?
This page provides you with a list of board staff, including board administrators and moderators and other details such as the forums they moderate.

What is this “Fortress of Awesome” I heard of? - The FoA is a secret forum for the veterans of the site, a place which is liberated from most forum rules. If you want to join after you've already been on the forums for a longer time, send a PM to any Global Moderator. The FoA members will then vote on whether you are allowed in.

Due to a ♥♥♥♥ of controversy over the subject as of late, I'd suggest something more clear and up-to-date on how the staff system works, including information about who we are, the responsibilities of the staff, how/when/why we select people, etc. Although it'd likely be difficult to articulate this very explicitly, since it's not the most objective process ever. I wouldn't suggest a list of criteria, because that seems to promote the (misguided) mentality that "If I just accomplish these tasks, then that means I should automatically be promoted", but we should at least include some sort of description somewhere, since the last thing like this that has been posted related to the subject of promotions was at least a few years ago (2011, actually, if I'm not mistaken...probably a hiring thread from Suyo. By the way guys we don't do those anymore, for more than a few reasons). (I think this is already partially accomplished by the About page, but it still seems rather vague and could be cleaned up.)

EDIT: Also permissions settings

Login/ucp
Level submission/procedure
Posts/replies/thread types
Searching
LDCs/events
Level design interface? Cheating in the full set, ld only version

Until I can easily edit first post my replies will be short things such as this. I need everyone's cooperation though, so please, suggest anything broad or specific.

Here's the beginnings of something on the wiki that I had already been working on...

While this will certainly be useful, I was thinking the onsite FAQ could be more general so it is not too intimidating. On the bottom there could be links to the more detailed wiki sections.

User input would be great. I know you guys like forum games, but I need a bit of assistance until either my cpu fan or laptop comes in. All I'm asking for at this point are lists.

First, more information about Level Approving/Submitting and Feedback. I know you came up with that already but it's something I'd really like to focus on. It would make things way better and easier.

Another thing we could do is remove the Friends/Foes thing from there, there's no use to it anymore.

Also, is there anyway to make it more... visible? I don't know. It's probably something everyone reads and has access to, but sometimes some new users still ask some questions that are still on the FAQ and it makes me question if it's really a thing. I have no idea if it's something possible to accomplish though, just a suggestion.

and last thing please remove that "is generally the worst place on the site" thing on the FoA description, it bugs me off a lot, the foa needs more respect

Anyways that's what I have for now. I can come up with more stuff later, but I still reinforce the need for the normal users to post what they think here. It's not like we are the only ones that care.

EDIT: oh yeah and also update the User Representatives names

It needs to be removed in general, its a site breaker.

One thing I could really see being a great change is better organization. Cut back on the space by collapsing categories. Add a search function maybe.

I feel the FAQ should be generally more about the site than the site's games, though. Level submitting would be great, but not the interface of the designer.

Dealing with a bug right now, so until my body kills it off in on mobile too.

We could describe it as the place where most of the site members who know each other pretty well hang out, because that's pretty much what it is. We just happen to like ♥♥♥♥.

that's the IRC though. Nobody hangs out in FoA, just drop by sometimes to leave a ♥♥♥♥ before going to the actual hangout spot- chat.

I'm not sure if the point of this topic is to specifically address the FAQ and the information contained within, or whether it's a general catch-all for stuff we still need to do, but after reading through the FAQ, I'd add a section for the Wiki and Chat, remove the category for Friends&Foes, and seriously redo everything pertaining to level submission and the LD portal. A lot of these answers are pretty cringey too- the FoA one is the most notable but there's something about the passive "I'm here to be your friend" voice that irritates me. No, it's here to be informative. Can we make it more professional?

Regardless, the FAQ should be one of the last things to be done; not only will we have complete resources to link to, it'll also make it clearer what has not already been covered in greater detail elsewhere.

Seconding this. Those dinky buttons in the top right don't stand out at all, which is kindof a large flaw since things like the Chat, Wiki, and FAQ are pretty important site resources. Arguably more important than the News, Music, and About tabs in the header.

Off-topic, but the green mountains look amazing as a header.

On topic, I gave it a go, but this is going to take a while. A long while.

Why can’t I login?
Like logging into an email account or your computer, you are required to type a username and password. If for whatever reason you cannot log in, it is advised you check to be certain you did not mistype anything. The site is case sensitive!
If you still have trouble, it may be a cache issue, which is common during updates or server changes. Simply press Ctrl+F5(or Opt+Cmd+E if you are a Mac user) on your keyboard to automatically refresh the page. NOTE: This will mean the page will take a small bit longer to reload all content again. If you are using a mobile device, please see your browser's guide to purging cache settings.
If you still are having trouble, it may be due to a glitch, or you may be banned. Please contact admin@runouw.com politely to resolve the issue, or to be clarified.

Why do I get logged off automatically?
If you do not check the Log me in automatically box when you login, the site will only keep you logged in for a preset amount of time. This prevents misuse of your account by anyone else, such as a classmate, sibling, roommate, or stranger.
To stay logged in, check the box during login and a cookie will be made. This is not recommended if you access the board from a shared computer, e.g. library, internet cafe, university computer lab, etc., as your account will be compromised.

How do I prevent my username appearing in the online user listings?
Within your User Control Panel, under “Board preferences”, you will find the option Hide your online status. Enable this option with Yes and you will only appear to the administrators, moderators and yourself. You will be counted as a hidden user.

I’ve lost my password!
Because of privacy reasons, we cannot give you your password back(unless you find someone who is really generous). An only alternative to this is to go back to the login screen, and from there, click the "I've forgotten my password" link. You will then be given instructions, which hopefully will help you log back in to the site again.

I registered but cannot login!
First, check your username and password. This one is iffy, because accounts do not need email verification to post.

Why can’t I register?
It is possible the website owner has banned your IP address or disallowed the username you are attempting to register. Contact admin@runouw.com for an explanation, or assistance. Do not register unless prompted otherwise by staff.

What does the “Delete all board cookies” do?
The long answer is it deletes the cookie that keeps your account credentials stored on your web browser, thereby allowing you to not log in every so often, or every time you revisit the site.
The short answer is it logs you out and erases your cookies.

And yeah, the color is different on the FAQ, which I reaaallly like about that.
