I feel like all of this is taking too long and we should use proper polls and make it 1 giant poll to speed up progress.

Possibly, but I can't make the next set of polls without the data from the current ones, and there's a couple of layers of that, so there will be a bunch of polls anyways.

All right, I think I'm getting mixed signals here..

I still don't understand how you guys think half of this is going to fit anywhere. And if we just condense everything into icons, I can't see it looking good regardless.

It's better to break the poll into sections rather than make one big mess. Think of it like taking a test. Nobody is going to sit through an entire page of "what would you like to see".

Isn't it possible to save about 3 weeks and 3 polls if Doram or someone else just posts up a suggestion of how they imagine the header to look like, and we are here to make concrete improvement suggestions?

Thank you, FF.

Nan's sig! From the previous Secret Santa event!: show
Rating standards: show
1 star: (0 - 5.75 in LDC) These levels need a lot of work. They're totally un-elaborated, and/or inherently flawed due to things like cutoff or enemy spam, or they're untested and there are too many bugs gameplay-wise, in short: Many many things went wrong in such a level.

2 stars: (6 - 9.75) These levels are not terrible, but poor. They're too short, lack scenery or they have errors and/or bugs but it's still barely enjoyable. Again, spend more effort and try to do better. (if it's your first level that I rate two stars, it's not bad. There's a long way you can still go)

3 stars: (10 - 12.75) These levels are about mediocre. They may be still a little bit short, the gameplay is fine but not very original and graphics are also solid, but not breath-taking. Try to keep improving!

4 stars: (13 - 15) These levels are nice, but not the best. Effort has been put into them, there can some professionality be seen in gameplay and graphics, they're a nice experience to play, but there are still things you can do to make it even better. Try to go the extra mile!

5 stars: (15.25 - 20) These are really great levels, those which, as said, I would give more than 15 in an LDC. These suffice many high requirements, and it already goes into subtleties if you want to make them better. These levels are successful all around. Bravo.

These are just general principles I try to follow when rating. Sometimes I don't leave a further comment when rating, most times I do, if you have questions about it, feel free to ask further.

Ok, here's the switchover.

Aggregate of previous polls:

On the animated header:
  • News
  • Portal
  • Games
  • Forums
  • About
  • User Control Panel
  • PM Notification
  • Chat
  • Wiki
  • FAQ
NOT on the animated header:
  • Music
  • Cookie Crumb Trail
  • Ego Search
  • Medals
  • Members
  • Logout
  • Search Box
  • Advanced Search
Next up: The other part of the header

This means the NOTs now have a chance to be on the non-animated part of the header. Please note that a no vote at this point means that the item doesn't appear on the header at all.

Also, the delay on this is academic, since I can't really work on this properly until I get FTP access back, so the fact that this is taking forever is immaterial. Might as well forge on as planned. Also, I HAVE posted an image of what I thought it could look like. I can do a mockup of the animated one again now that the polls are done for it, though (and this time, I'll make it the city side). I'll post here with that when I get a chance.

Progress:

Figure out what goes on the animated header: 3/3 polls
Figure out what goes on the other part of the header: 1/2 polls :larrow:
Figure out how to arrange the two parts of the header: 0/1? polls
Figure out if there is any issues with graphics: 0/1 polls
Figure out any extra options: 0/1 polls
Make the headers: 0/2 parts
Install the headers: 0/1 process

Re: Forum Header Re-arrange

I don't see the value in having these things on the header, or three of them anywhere on the site at all. That being said, I would like to see the cookie crumb trail below the header in the main body of the forums (plainly visible, like it is on the LL forums) rather than removed completely.

Below the header is still part of the header. You want it below, vote yes, I'll take that into account when we are discussing the arrangement (next step after these 2 polls). You don't want it at all, be sure to vote no.

I find Medals actually important. Just to let new members know what they can strive for here. On this page, we can also add the cookie medal plus an explanation how to award it, if possible.

Re: FAQ Suggestions

Vendai wrote:Medals? Why... why is this even here, instead of in their own thread, perhaps where users could suggest new achievements or submit their art (since, you know... we're still not finished making them all)?

In retrospect I am not against a medal button in the header that links to a forum topic covering the purpose and criteria behind a medal. It should definitely have a discussion/suggestion area, though. Medals aren't finished and the current page isn't even up to date, let alone open to questions and user input.

I've also changed to Yes for the cookie crumbs. When we say header, I think of the visually distinct box above the main body of the site, not just everything above.

EDIT: mobileposting is hard
