Do anchor links work like that? I'll be honest, I don't understand how they work at all, not even sure of the code for them. But the only time I've seen them used is for things like lengthy LDC results posts, and only ever to a part farther on in that same post. It doesn't seem logical that they could link to other posts, since that would give anyone who posts after such an anchored post the ability to mess with it.

Again, I might be totally wrong on how they work, but the evidence we have seems to suggest they only work within single posts.

That being said I'd love to not have to flip through hundreds of pages when I could CTRL+F through only ten instead by simply increasing the display limit tenfold- can someone seriously consider implementing this?

The entire first page of my level collection topic (for my SM63 levels), with the Directory, has anchor links working throughout the ten posts, but they cannot connect to the two posts on the second page. I'm not sure what would happen if it anchored to the last two posts for me because of a larger post display, but not(?) for another user who only decides to display 10 posts per page.
Maybe an error would be received by the other user who tried to click on the hypothetical anchor link that's "supposed to exist on the same page," but I really don't know.

But I do still want the display option nonetheless.

Please disable the sm63popup markup for mobile versions and set the code markup to not make my kindle have a superwide page...

So uh, this might be a bit of a weird suggestion, since it's for the chat and not really the website itself.

Can we please get a chat history?

Anyone visiting the IRC this last week has noticed it's dead. Dead as ♥♥♥♥, actually. Literally, there are corpses more lively than the IRC these days. Why? Because pretty much all the "main members", the Americans who stay online (if not at their keyboards) all day... they've all moved to Skype. Now Skype has a few benefits- for one, you can message someone regardless of whether they're online or not. Simple, but a big improvement over the IRC PMs which require both people to be online. Second, the obvious one, video and voice calls. It's a lot more fun to speak and yell and curse out loud when playing online games or talking about stupid junk. There's no typing delay, and it's a much more personal connection when you can hear responses and reactions in realtime. Third, and this is the huge one:

Skype has a chat log.

You can leave and rejoin at any time, and still see every single message that was sent while you were away. I literally just had this brainwave, because really, it bothers me that the IRC is never used- it would be so simple for the morning guys to just post in IRC instead... but they don't. Because Skype has the history that IRC doesn't, because they can jump in and comment on whatever happened last night instead of starting a brand new topic that might get a hit and miss reception.

Now look, there's a lot of members over in the Skype group. Like, 21. Granted there's various degrees of activity, but it's plain that this group excludes a lot of amazing members who only talk through IRC or forums, and to make matters worse we can't simply add everyone to Skype- if a group has more than 25 or so participants, voicecalls are a no go. If we want to include everyone, and keep our group the kind of open community most of us agree Runouw should be, we need a better forum chat.

We NEED a chat history.

Would be somewhat infeasible seeing as we're working on an IRC-based service here; perhaps a logbot could paste the last few messages privately, but that would be more of a workaround than a solution.

Can we like tighten forum games rules a bit? It's not that important obviously but some games like "I blame Harmless" just shouldn't exist. They have no point. They're not even games, all you do is say something.

Being able to make polls in nonessential areas of the site would be pretty awesome.

Off-topic, Gaming, Serious Discussion...

They're all very user moderated and it's actually pretty annoying that this isn't already an option.

Try now. It should work for all of Off-Topic.

After spending a little time staring blankly at the atrocity that is this forum layout, I became a tad bi-curious as to why it is set up this way. In most forums, the OP (original post) is always the first thing you see, and that is most useful, because that way you don't have to sift through page after page of stuff just to find the original post on page 1034. The fact that new posts are displayed first is nonsensical. What if you just saw the thread and had no idea what was going on? Say a debate was taking place, and all you see is the tail end of it. Nonsensical if you ask me.

Now take a look at this.
Image
A minor nitpick, but could we make the text here a tad bigger? It's quite small.

Now onto the colour scheme.

Image

If you are seeing what I'm seeing, sorry. The colour scheme of the site is appalling to say the least. Nothing blends together, it flows like molasses, and it looks like a hot mess. Now look at this here:

Image

You can see clearly that everything flows nice, looks nice, and isn't an eyesore. The font colour, module colour, and link colour are all really solid, and they just resonate well. These colours here need to go. Please.

On to the next subject: The post boxes look awful. Look here:

Image

This is just a random reply to a random thread I just pulled off the site. Look at the reply box. Now compare it to this post I made on the Zelda Dungeon forums:

Image

The first thing you'll notice is how much larger this is. The space management in the Zelda Dungeon post box is spot on and organized. One of the major points are a) the user information is on the left, making it less confusing as we read right to left, b) the amount of leftover space after the text in the post makes it feel less cramped, and also helps to separate that post with the post below. Also notice the userbox http://puu.sh/ap1wC/3baf35b02b.jpg compared to this userbox http://puu.sh/ap1yM/4abe599221.png. The Runouw userbox is far, far wider than it should be. I'd suggest slimming it down to increase post space.

Anyways, that's all I have for now.

[edit] Here is your forum as a filthy jpeg image.

Image

[EDIT] Regarding the chat: Stop using irc. Most phpBB has other chat plugins. Chat keeps members on your forum, because chat gives them purpose. This is a proven fact.

Would you rather
a)Lick Lucina's armpits
b)Have her step on you with her bare feet
c)Rub her thighs on your face
or
d)Smell her bum

.

On-topic, criticism is always welcome, it leads to improvement, but a lot of what you said amounts to "the forum layout is different to other forums and that's why it's bad". Maybe I've become to used to seeing it every day, and have become numb to its ugliness if it can in fact be considered ugly, but I quite like the layout.

Also, what you said about new posts being displayed first, I don't understand. When you click on a thread name, it always takes you to the OP post. Clicking on the little white square with a black marking is what takes you to the newest post in a thread. If anything, you'd have to be avoiding the link pretty hard in order to miss the OP post.
