SpoopyToast implies that the [rp] tag can be used in a third person perspective.

Maybe a tag that outputs a winner's podium and has each user's name and profile picture over each spot? It should look something like this

Thumbs up x1

Complexity, usually. It's also pretty packed up there. There are quite a few BBCode functions, such as fulltable, that aren't added simply because they are so complex, you would need radio buttons and check boxes just to set it up for a post.

Or is the twitter thing just not working right?
The twitter feed feature itself needs to be worked on due to the fact that the one Twitter supplies or that other site devs have made will literally blow the ♥♥♥♥ out of the server again with its ping.

The buttons themselves, though, were pretty buggy when Suyo implemented them. However, I think we can fix them now.

While I'm thinking about it, SD could use a handbook sticky for newcomers or users. Suyo's thread did it's job in the past, but now it's like it just says "make a joke and we punish you". I might try to write one up.

This. Love the idea. Don't have the time. Get it to me, and I'll install it.

As for the twitter stuff, I AM working on it. I'm looking for a service that serves up just the text of the tweet, without any GUI. The last service we used for that died. The goal is to reduce traffic across our server as much as possible, because we have had problems with overloading it in the past. I am also looking into what will be necessary to write one, but it's complicated, and will take a while.

The podium is a cool idea, I like it, but I'm having difficulty with the way phpBB handles the avatars. I have similar stuff like that in place, but it's wonky, and thus not publicly available (you can use it only if you know about it - it's not in any BBCode listing - this is to make sure that people aren't getting frustrated with it being half broken). If I can master that, then it opens up a lot of new possibilities. But until then...

For the podium, would fulltable on fulltable on fulltable essentially work as a concept idea?

Well, that would actually be several fulltd elements in a table, whether it was a fulltable or not, but yeah, you could combine the two, or even have a fulltable for an overall background and then normal cells with the avatars:

empty, avi, empty
avi, empty, empty
empty, empty, avi

Most computers have a calender already if I'm not mistaken. Having one on the site isn't really necessary.

You can also put a link on an event. Pretty Useful if you ask me.

Wow. That is a great idea! I love the idea of a forum calendar. We could put LDC start and end dates on it and stuff, and it would be another kind of historical record of site activity (since we are interested in such things *cough* *like MoD*).

As previously mentioned, this might not be doable, at least as far as a personal calendar. Our poor database is abused enough with just the forum, as a number of site events have shown (such as the never-ending chat issues...). Something smaller like site-wide official events, though... that just might be possible. I'm sure there's a calendar add-on for phpBB out there by now too, so coding might be minimal... Suyo?

Note: this was before I became Glomo, but it HAS been on my mind. It's on the long list, because the priority is fixing broken stuff for right now, but it's on the list. Further thoughts have included combining the timeline with this...

inb4 get your notepads out, guys, and help us code

I've been playing with Stylish as well, and I found a way to change the scrollbar. Apparently it works on a lot of browsers, minus Firefox(it needs its own code for that).
Code: Select all
::-webkit-scrollbar {
    width: 10px;
    height: 12px;
}
::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb {
    background-color: #5C48AC;
    border-top-left-radius: 99px;
    border-top-right-radius: 99px;
    border-bottom-right-radius: 99px;
    border-bottom-left-radius: 99px;
}

Just change the background color to whatever seems fitting. Right now it's navy blue.
EDIT: Fixed it so it fits the background
