[slant] bbcode

Makes text slant, great for emphasis.

Code: Select all
We [slant=left][i]can[/i][/slant] do this!

Also [border]

Code: Select all
[border=blue]I have a border[/border]

I guess there already exists a BB code for a background border.

For topic icons, I've actually voted against those because I actually don't see where I could really need them (apart from me using them in RO subforum as a "sticky topic alternative"), and also some of them can hang down quite a lot once you reply to the respective thread.

With the topic icons, I really don't have much of an opinion on it. I doubt it will make a difference, but I guess it would add more interest to posting, if that is possible. :P

But why vote against it? It's not gonna have a negative impact or anything and I think there are some ideas to change them to more useful icons.

Karyete, I think you may've quoted the wrong person there. :p

I actually voted no too. It's such a minor thing- if you really want someone to visit your thread, convince me in the title. Even if we change the icons, I just don't see it being useful outside of spamming. It would be a purely fun thing.

Not that fun things are bad, but I will always prefer the clean, uncluttered look.

Also @Shad, I think the point of PW's slant tags is so that you could slant text the other way, too.

See, I think they could be very useful if used consistently and correctly. Take one of the general forums as an example. If every question had one of these Image, and every suggestion had one of these Image, and every guide had one of these Image, and every bug had one of these Image, you could tell in a glance what was going on without reading a single word.

PW. Please explain better what you mean. Are you talking about slanting the opposite way of italics, or slanting more, or what?

Also, I agree that we have a number of options for borders and backgrounds, from [bg] to
OOC: [ooc]
to
[table]
to [fulltable], EDIT: (sorry, forgot these) and there's the semi-hidden ones like [em], and [sig] (which wants to not work right now for no apparent reason...Time to go bug hunting.)
[sig]
, much less fancier ones like
i[info]
, and
![warn]
, and
[approved]

What specifically were you looking for? (Quote to see my code.)

Am I misunderstanding? I was under the impression it would be open to everyone, not just staff (as hinted by consistent and correct), and the vast majority of newer users (the guys who would be most likely to need it for questions and stuff) probably wouldn't care to use correctly/at all. And I mean, even if it is used in a controlled manner somehow, you're still going to need to read the title once they start becoming commonplace anyway.

I'm seeing the potential value of having distinguishing icons for important topics of certain forums (especially when the title is rather ambiguous, like Every Proven Glitch and Idea for this Known to Man- if you knew nothing about the content and only had the title to look at, would you guess it's a suggestion topic, a help center, or a bug reporting area?), but if it's a free-reign thing, I'm gonna have to keep my answer unchanged.

An actual border.

Box with a green border HTML I worked out:

Code: Select all
<div style="width:200px;height:100px;padding:10px;border:10px solid yellowgreen;">

Box with a border

</div>

This is why I sorta had the tag idea. We have the icons, so all the user would have to do is click or type the tag for the thread, and it would convert to the icon on the board itself.

Also, see if Suyo maybe locked the sig code to only work for him
