I was wondering: could there be subforums for the Serious Discussion Forum like a subforum for Government, Religion, or Personal discussions?
It's more than likely not needed there aren't a whole lot of new threads that show up on the forum that much, but I thought I'd give out an idea I had.

The people have spoken. I will get to this in the next day or so.

2) Subforums in Serious Discussion? I am not sure they're necessary, but I suppose it's a pretty good idea. I'm all for organization, of course, but the problem that I see with it is that so many discussions blur the lines. think/discuss more, and maybe we can work something out. Even if the base idea is good, we'd need to decide what the categories are.

3) Some of the notification options are broken (like pm me when I get a thumbs up) I need to fix those, and I have not figured out how to do it yet. I would prefer they be set logically for a newbie, but be there for the veteran. I don't think taking options away is an improvement in general.

4) Rules forum is evolving right now, and is not in a final state. We are still discussing some things, and have yet to do some of the things we have decided on. please have patience.

5) Final note on BBCode suggestions:

I'll take suggestions, but the system is pretty robust already. As far as I have seen, we have one of the most complex BBCode sets out there already. There are only a few things that I still want to do for the system, and I just need to figure them out, and we will have just about everything that we need. In the works includes some more rp fun, amongst other things.

However, advanced BBCode will take advanced skill. You want the power, I've got no problem giving it to you, but it will take you doing the work of figuring it out, to be able to use it. Believe me, I have given you everything that you need to figure it out, it's going to just be a matter of playing with it, and getting a feel for it, and possibly doing related research (like learning more about HTML and CSS in general). Please don't ask for more advanced stuff, and then complain that it is too complicated.

Oh fine, I'd definitely update the general rules page with specifying what we understand by a "bump" or "postcounting". I also think there should be a larger picture of the Edit button, seeing how also friendly newbies don't notice its existence sometimes.

Also it should be worth adding a section listing further useful topics (both informative topics and rules topics). Concretely: Rules of Arguing, Site Guides, Forum Chat Topic, BBCodes list, Tutorial Thread, my Level Posting Rules, lordpat's thread, Art rules, Principles on Serious Discussion (the latter two once we get them done properly). Speaking of which, I'd also feel like adding some stuff following from the old suspended "No effort pics" from Suyo's topic so it can finally be graveyarded. Can I please be able again to edit my OP? Thanks

Still waiting on that way to remove the featured medal from my profile.

Also, Post Icons appear to be disabled in the Holiday forum.

Holiday Icons Fixed. Other stuff still in progress....

Digging my posts for that minibb link. Found this.

EDIT: Also, I'm game for tackling custom bbcodes, just need to know where to find the resources and layout stuff for ours.

Most BBCode is simply replacing a specified structure with its HTML equivalent. Come up with something that you would want to do, figure out how to do it in HTML, and then create a structure for gathering parameters for the user, and voila, you have a BBCode. I'll send a crash course to you on it through PM.

Wait that gives me an idea. If we create a BBCode for the Discord Widget (since it is HTML), if we add width and highth parameters, add the server parameters (which will require looking at the widget option in Discord), we could put discord widgets for custom chat servers in our sigs, posts, etc. Discord invites don't last forever, so we can do that instead. (It could also be useful for my chat server, since I can't keep an invite in my sig becuase it will expire) Also, it should probably be a mod enabled one (like [flash]) to prevent abuse.

The non-human readable Discord invites last forever.

@Seth
Actually, I don't think the Discord BBCode is a good idea for a couple of reasons.
  1. Generally, we try to keep network traffic to a minimum, and having the page try to fetch a widget every time you post in a page (which could legitimately be 3 or 4 times) would start to weigh heavily in processing time. Especially if several people are doing it, bringing the total of simultaneous discord widgets per page closer to 10. It's the reason Flash is not allowed in signatures. The overhead just climbs too high too fast.
  2. The Discord Widget is currently broken. That's why I had to take it off the Chat Page.

I just noticed that I can't save a draft when I edit an already submitted post.
