Yes shroom, we already were planning on cleaning up the forums such as the graveyard during this and we will figure out which threads as we go, we don't need examples or anything.
Doram wrote:And, as I thought, there's still raging debate over this. Now we're having the debate. Good. Carry on.

Raging debate meaning 11 people who voted yes because they're okay with the poll as well as more who haven't bothered to vote because a poll was unneccessary and 1 person who has a nitpick? (nice run on sentence me.) A tiny bit of an exaggeration there.

Doram wrote:EDIT: Had a thought: if we are combining all the LL generals into one, how do we differentiate between threads meant for one chapter or another (it DOES make a difference)? Are we going to enforce a naming rule (such as thread names must start with "Chapter X:"), and are we going to re-name old threads to fit the new rule (so as to eliminate confusion about what they were about)? Is it worth making some sub-forums to keep these separate if not?

Done. I changed all the subtitles according to the subforum they are in and left the general forum's subtitles alone. From there, it is not neccessary for people to need to provide tags whatsoever because there is no reason to use a previous version of LL. If they do for whatever reason then they can just clarify it.
FrozenFire wrote:Also we don't delete any incomplete series in the vault of any LDC, do we?

No. There's no reason to delete a post in a thread, instead of the thread itself. Don't delete levels for any reason, incomplete or not, for exactly what MoD said.

With that said, there is seriously no reason with doing it now and fixing any issues after. There will be issues, it's fine. We can do it at the soonest possible convenience for Doram/MP3.

I mean, even then, it's worth clarifying. It's surprising it needs clarifying.

I like this. It certainly cleans up the Level Portal stuff.

I still don't see why Pokemon isn't a subforum of Nintendo. Heck, why does it even have it's own forum? That's just my opinion about it. It sorta bugs me, but it's not a big deal or anything to me.

I like that idea.

    To do:

  • Add "events" forum and "other" forum to the Graveyard, and organize the graveyard a bit using those new forums.
  • Move Forum 23 out of the site discussion forum and put it in Main so staff can see it better.
  • Also, merge the level moderator forum with Forum 23. This is completely insignificant to non-staff.
  • Get rid of the SM63 and LL forums, replace it with Runouw's Games. Have a SM63 general and LL General in it to discuss the game itself and not levels.
  • Also have other games subforum which is a merged version of the entire other games forum that will be deleted.
  • Rename Level Portal General to Level Designing General, put any general threads such as contest theme suggestions in it, also will be a place for stats, the universal duel arena, tutorials, LD tier list. Put the SM63 LD forum and the LL LD forum in it as well, the current LL levels forum will be renamed to Level Collections to match SM63, and a level series forum will be made for LL.
  • get rid of needed threads and or combine them
  • Flashplayer showcase completely graveyarded. It's useless, can't deny it.
  • Stories subforum will have all it's subforums combined into subforum and people will be encouraged to tag it from now on.
  • Valve forum merged with gaming forum.
  • R.A.P.E.Runouw anime and planning graveyarded after like 5 years of inactivity.

Instead of posting in every thread that I modify, I'll just make a list here.
  • Locked old contest theme suggestions and made a new, centralized one.
  • Locked the problems/bugs thread for the portal. Just put it in Forum Bugs instead.
  • Made Lordpat's level commenting rules a sticky in both portal forums and unstickied his thread with all the posts in LDG. Comment there in the future for revisions.
  • Moved MP3's help topic, tier list, music library, and hall of fame to the LPG forum. I know they're all mostly SM63, but who knows, maybe that can change in the future.
  • Unstickied the thread about contests made by Demonik. It still remains mostly true, but it never happens anymore and if it does happen again we can just clarify.

I want to reduce the overall length of all the stickies by having a masterthread that take the purpose of all of these threads eventually. I think Ven is working on it so no one take initiative yet. (don't take my word on this tho)

Apparently this doesn't work well because there are still buttons "Play this level" and "Rate this level" in these stickies. It's the same thing that we already saw when my general guide was made an announcement in both portal forums, and I suddenly had two extra levels in my list. So just leave it (un?)stickied in LDG and add another line in the red "Forum rules" bar.

Thank you, FF.

Rating standards: show
1 star: (0 - 5.75 in LDC) These levels need a lot of work. They're totally un-elaborated, and/or inherently flawed due to things like cutoff or enemy spam, or they're untested and there are too many bugs gameplay-wise, in short: Many many things went wrong in such a level.

2 stars: (6 - 9.75) These levels are not terrible, but poor. They're too short, lack scenery or they have errors and/or bugs but it's still barely enjoyable. Again, spend more effort and try to do better. (if it's your first level that I rate two stars, it's not bad. There's a long way you can still go)

3 stars: (10 - 12.75) These levels are about mediocre. They may be still a little bit short, the gameplay is fine but not very original and graphics are also solid, but not breath-taking. Try to keep improving!

4 stars: (13 - 15) These levels are nice, but not the best. Effort has been put into them, there can some professionality be seen in gameplay and graphics, they're a nice experience to play, but there are still things you can do to make it even better. Try to go the extra mile!

5 stars: (15.25 - 20) These are really great levels, those which, as said, I would give more than 15 in an LDC. These suffice many high requirements, and it already goes into subtleties if you want to make them better. These levels are successful all around. Bravo.

These are just general principles I try to follow when rating. Sometimes I don't leave a further comment when rating, most times I do, if you have questions about it, feel free to ask further.

Wait. You want 6 pages of Pokemon junk dumped into Gaming so that we can trip over it every day?

i think the idea was that Pokemon is a Nintendo game therefore threads pertaining to the subject should be placed in the Nintendo subforum

also I don't know if you realize how dead the Pokemon subforum is anyway, it's really not a huge thing here anymore and most of the threads would simply sink below the surface of the forums

it would not be impeding anything at all
