I guess you tried to save the pic by typing "bla.png" at Save As... in MS Paint? That will save the pic as JPG, but with PNG at the end. You have to choose PNG below.

I didn't type .*extension*
There was only one thing to figure it out.
I changed my avatar back to its original state. It was a PNG File and it worked. Sadly, the name on my avatar, will not exist due to the control panel forcing me to make it JPEG.
So yeah.
