Trying To Figure Out The Method of Permabans RESPECTFULLY

Postby MessengerOfDreams » May 14th, 2010, 12:36 pm

I'm confused about the reasons some members are permabanned and yet some are not.

Here's the thing- some users have been known to get past a permaban since the mods liked them better, case in point, GalaxyMario. He only got a month, which was in the end shortened, for reregistering. TBG got a reprieve similar to this due to rallying, but the only reason he would have gotten a permaban was because of other offenses coupled up with his rereg.

The mods assume that Kirby859 rereg's without asking and Permaban him

WHA-WHA-WHAT?!

If you favortise due to activity, well, Kirby859 was twice as active as GalaxyMario was. So why the permaban? Well, it got corrected, but still...

And the same has happened with Reaper and would have happened with itoofast. If they don't get the mercy some other members have, then is that to say that Itoofast and Reaper weren't good enough members? Doesn't really sound right...

Or maybe you're just getting less and less lenient.

But my opinion is, what you did to spare GalaxyMario was right. If he was a good member (And this was his first offense) Maybe they should show a bit of mercy. (BTW what is the big deal about rereg's?) Don't get me wrong, TBG is a great member, and the best recovery of a ban, but based on his track record, he in all respects should have been given a perma because back then he had a number of other offenses. I think if a member is active and good, then he should only get a 1 or 2 month ban THE FIRST TIME ONLY.

Equation I am getting at-

Good Behavior+Activity+Rereg=Mercy
Bad Behavior-Activity+Rereg=Death

Am I making sense?

Okay. It's time the truth came out about my ban.

One day, my friend and I went to the school library. My friend created an account from the school. I was using the computer to use the forums as well. The next morning, I checked to see if there were new posts I should know about. Suyo had posted in my friends welcome topic and locked it, saying that car0706 was a rereg of me. After about 3 weeks, I took action and sent a message to Niklaw through the Runouw wiki. Niklaw unbanned me, end of.

Anyway, this does seem kind of unfair. Maybe a chance to write an explanation if you get banned? That would have helped me a lot.

I shall attempt to explain this through graph...

Image

Now, I can not say that I knew them well, nor can I say that I knew what actions they took, but what happens is that most people just get angry and don't attempt to calmly and intelligently explain why they were breaking such rules. Cussing and such won't do any good to anyone on such things. Of course, this isn't always the case, it truly depends on the Moderators.

And now, with the Moderators. Biased thoughts will always be biased. There is never true equality in this world, and if you will have to accept that fact. Yes, it's unfair, but thing is, you can change much, but there will still be slight, weighted thoughts.

I think that sums it up very well. If they have proven themselves to be good members, they are spared. If not, then... yeah, I suppose you could call it death. :?

That doesn't explain Kirb, Itoo and Reaper, what are/were they not good enough members?

Yes, the question becomes, when is there the point when you consider it "Good Behavior + Activity"? I mean, if you look at it that way, TBG definitely didn't have the best behavior. Compared to, say, Kirby and Itoo.

That 1% of complaining worked on that case.

Y'know, I suppose you're right.

I actually don't know why this is the case. I'm hardly ever the one to permaban people, other than one post spammers and such. That's mostly Suyo, because he's always there first. >:P

I suppose it all boils down to whether or not the person banned actually contacts one of us with some sort of excuse. If the excuse is reasonable, by all means, they'll be let back in.

So if you ever get into serious trouble, just contact one of us either by PM via a new account made here (Be quick though, so we don't assume you're just re-reging to get around a ban), or via E-mail. You can catch me through this: Nicholaos@live.com.au

I orginally permabanned GM too. But I changed it to one month when I noticed the IP was different from his main IP*. Thus I really didn't know if someone haxxed him or he was at a friend or somethign and that stuff. Thus I shortened it.
Now some time after that I started permabanning everyone not depending on his activity and stuff, but I always give my mail at the end so they can mail me if they forgot to mail staff someone else wants to register. But if they try to jsut invent something, and this doesn't work out... well, yeah.

* main IP as in the IP he posted the most posts from

Well, I guess they did have the right to perma-ban me IF I didn't tell them that it was my brother, since, how the hell would they know if I didn't tell them that it was my brother?
