It may have been worth reading the name changing rules before getting a name that is now unchangeable for an entire year, the exceptions being events where you can have a name change, like Halloween.

And yet that is only because the topic itself is old, and hasn't been edited recently. The rules still apply, or we'd all be allowed unrecognisable name changes every day if we wanted to.

A year is still kindof a long time- I'm on mobile so it's a pain to check but wasn't it shorter, or had a reversal period, or something?

I guess I just don't understand why it's such a long wait, and moreover why it's the same long wait for a Type 1 (unrecognizable) and Type 2 (still recognizable). Are we secretly being flooded with namechange requests or something behind the scenes? I know it's not a hard or time consuming task for anyone with ACP access.

If nothing else, please consider this a formal petition to change the duration of the wait for Type 2 at least.

I second Ven's idea. Maybe just half it to 6 months for a Type 2 change. But yes, the idea of the limitation to Type 1 / 2 changes is making people force keeping their names for a longer time and become loyal to their names, and also making them think if they really want a name change. Heck, I've thought of a name change after the ban to clean up with all bad happenings before, but I'm so loyal to being Shroom that I refrain from that.

So, just try to cotton up with being PW and you're fine.

And good job on updating the lists.

To be honest I'm just really stressed today. I probably wouldn't have replied so sharply if it were another day or time even.
I've already put serious thought into the idea of shortening the time for type 2 name changes, check staff chat maybe/maybe not.

Note: REVERSAL IS NOT ALLOWED ANYMORE. If you have your change, it stays. For types 1 and 2, you MUST give a valid reason for your name change, otherwise you won't get one.
