I feel like "I want to change my name"/"I want a new look" is good enough justification to get a name change, as long as you're not doing it every day--which is why we have the time restrictions. I'd say remove that line since it's not really that important, but at the same time, it's a useful reminder that people shouldn't just freely change their username for the hell of it.

In any case, a year after a type 1 and six months after a type 2 are still both obscenely long time limits for something as trivial as a name change, and I know we've already had that exact discussion eight hundred times in staff chat, so I'm glad you guys finally got around to changing it in the OP

I don't get your point Shroom. You want to punish people who want a reverse early on because they confused everyone else with the name change? To teach them a lesson you choose the option that punishes everyone?

I'd also like to know what quantifies as necessary reasoning. I know I had to make a new reddit account because I no longer identified as THENOBULLMAN and if I came out here I would have to fight to not be stuck with a male pronoun forever.

I could actually sum it up as "be mindful if you want a name change, be aware that it stays for a while once you have it". I remember pretty well how Pos said "oh I want reversal, I don't like my new name".

Anyway, I won't protest against the new time spans, I just wish that name changes don't become overboard and IMO they shouldn't happen just for the heck of it.

When we first got name changes they were way overboard. People got crazy different names and we're borderline indefinable and after a couple of months changed back. I see that as the same problem, but a more efficient solution- better not to discipline for trigger happiness if it means less confusion from the general audience.
