There's a well known glitch in Kirby Air Ride (City Trial mode) where you can clip through the inside walls of the Volcano if you ride upward to the neck of it. The result is you end up out of bounds below City Trial, and it allows you to freely roam past the invisible barriers set around the map. Stray too far, of course, and you "fall off" the course... But the most interesting thing is you do not respawn, since City Trial has no preset spawn points if you somehow fall off the map by accident. Instead, you stay permanently retired, and the screen will stay as such until you pause and exit the game.
You can achieve a similar result without going out of bounds by selecting either Meta Knight or King Dedede and KOing yourself to the fire dragons that leap out of the ground around the volcano. Apparently, when KO'd, those two characters do not respawn either. It seems to have been an oversight in City Trial (Free Run specifically) because the only other times you can get KO'd as Meta Knight and King Dedede are in Air Ride mode with Stamina on, and typically when you run out of stamina in Air Ride mode the game has special instructions to retire you, and end the race if everyone but CPU players are down.

Backstory: I was on an ice platform, then dropped a bomb at some point. I bounced off of it after the platform disappeared and got hurt... and somehow I'm down here now.
