Anybody here hear of a game called The Path? It is a "short horror game" that is only ten dollars to download for pc and mac. I probably won't get it because i'm a chicken for horror games, but this did catch my eye.

You play as one of the red sisters in the horror remaking of Little Red Riding Hood. Without spoiling anything, you guide the sister you pick through the forest to encounter the Wolf...and ironicly if you stay on the path to your grandmothers house, you will fail.

From what I read this game is very simbolic and really makes you think about it, kind of like a game like Braid, or Bioshock that give you a lot of questions, and lets you make the answers. I kinda read about it, and saw all of the spoilers, and this looks like an amazing game from a philosiphers prospective, but don't expect it to have great gameplay, from someone who just wants to play and enjoy.

Hehe, I, too, am a chicken when it comes to horror games, and I am a miser when it comes to downloading games, so I doubt I'll get this either. It does sound very interesting, though, so maybe I'll read a spoilers things, just for the story...

This game scared the crap outta me.

Yeah, its not those "A zombie pops out and kills you" Scary, its more like the atmosphere, and once the girl "Dies" you really think about what happened and what it all symbolizes.

For anybody who is not going to get this game and is still interested you can see a plot analysis at the cheats and hints in gamespot.

You must admit, it is too short of a game, I mean, It's basically seven slightly different versions of one place, a forest with a road that leads to a path, which leads to a "House" that looks like it's in a swamp at night.

Even with the Campsite and stuff, why isn't there any Hunters or Lumberjacks (with +2 Axes of Fire) or maybe some sort of Conspiracy?

I know it's supposed to be an Art game or something,but it really has nothing I find interesting.
What would be interesting?If a guy popped out and swung his sword at you, or some more CHARACTERS.
There is like, six (or seven) different versions of one girl, A demon of sorts in the forest, and a grandma that leads to death.

Seriously, the girls should just get on a motorbike and drive back to the Infected City they came from and die at the hands of a Hunter. Or preferably a Witch.

They could at least put a sign in the game that read "TURN BACK YOU IDIOTS."

Well, my dear Watson, an art game is one which endeavours to appeal to the senses. Basically, without all that British pish-posh, an art game focuses not on intense action, violence, or even gameplay, but on leaving a certain feeling in you, whether it be wonder, mystery, or something else. They tend to be "quiet", or "passive". Much like a painting, art games deal mostly with aesthetics, and often causes one to think. So, your suggestions of having a screamer, intense heart-pumping combat, and swords and motorbikes just don't fit the art game genre. This isn't a zombie-survival horror type game like Left4Dead; this game appeals to a whole different group of people.

I've played SOME art games, liked SOME of them.

This game has horrid gameplay, an Art game with Good Gameplay is hard to achieve, but this game tries to hard in the "Art" department and focuses less on the gameplay value.

Which I must say is not very bright, I buy a game to have fun,a bit of art is okay, but "The Path" is just an interactive painting.

BTW four, do you have L4D?
