Japan vs US: Sonic CD Edition

Postby SuYo1141 » August 8th, 2012, 6:05 pm

So I've been listening to a lot of Sonic CD lately, and I've been wondering what people around here think of the soundtrack differences between regions and which soundtrack they think is better.
I cannot make a poll in this forum, so post your opinions below if you wish.

Japanese soundtrack is better. Especially the title theme. Japanese music composers are pretty danged good at making music.

Like most Sonic fans out there, I like the Japanese/European versions of the music more, mainly because it seems more colorful and energetic. The American versions seem slower-paced, though they're alright. I just don't know what made Sega of America change the music score for the US. However, I equally like Toot-Toot Sonic Warrior as much as Sonic Boom.

I think Sonic Team America tried to change the track to a much darker setting since they thought the storyline was much darker than it really was. And when you look at it, they were kind of right. I mean, if you get the bad ending, Robotnik eternally controls time. YOU LIVE IN HIS EXISTENCE.
But I digress. I commend the US soundtrack for achieving its purpose, but the JP soundtrack barely did its job better in my opinion.

EDIT: Slightly unrelated, but while I was speed-running the final boss for Sonic CD, I actually found that the US final boss theme got me more pumped to kick Robotnik's ♥♥♥. Interesting...

well...i think japan had the best soundtrack,I especially like the tidal tempest bad future japanese soundtrack,IT ROCKS! (IT'S FREAKIN' AWESOME!!) also I think the stardust speedway good future japanese soundtrack is:fluent, smooth and calm. :)
I also think the US soundtrack was quite nice to listen too,BUT WHAT WAS AMERICA THINKING WITH THE GAME OVER THEME!!!!!! :x
BUT there are some good soundtrack's from america like:wacky workbench present (I think most people should listen to that.),collision chaos bad future and palmtree panic present.

Also between the japanese and the american soundtrack i like the wacky workbench past, sonic boom and stardust speedway past soundtrack! they're AWESOME to listen to!!!

so here's the overall score for the japanese soundtrack (in my opinion).

japanese sountrack overall score:9.5/10

here's the overall score for the american soundtrack (in my opinion).

american soundtrack overall score:7/10 (if that's only if they didn't mess up the game over theme!)
