I'm not really going to contribute anything to that list but I'm just going to say that I really enjoyed the unique areas of Psychonauts like

I think my favourite of those was Lungfishopolis. I loved destroying everything and watching the world burn.

I swear, this topic is cursed so I can't post in it without breaking stuff or closing the tab by accident.

Best Emotional Moment in a Videogame:
Spoiler: show
In Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door, when you get Admiral Bobbery to read Scarlett's letter.
Every time I think about how Bobbery's whole life of sailing was ruined by the death of his wife. And this letter is the very last interaction he had with her. And how this letter is what encouraged Bobbery to join Mario, and ultimately save the world. I just wanna cry.

Best Scary Moments:
Spoiler: show
In Luigi's Mansion on Gamecube, right after you defeat Boolossus. When the mansion gets hit by lightning and the mansion is put into a black out. And it's up to Luigi to go from the top of the mansion, ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE BASEMENT to turn the power back on. But every step you take tons of ghosts jump out at you and are more than ready to make you pee your pants.

Most surprising/unexpected moment in a video game: That twist when you beat Altair, after collecting 100 Gold Cards in Bomberman 64. I first did it 3 or 4 years ago, but after 8+ years of playing the game, I n-n-n-never knew that.

The whole plot in Skies of Arcadia. It's a combination of quite every great feel you can get in a videogame.
(Except hating Galcian forever. You ♥♥♥♥♥ you. :<)

I know this is a pretty big bump, but I feel like sharing this with people.

So my sister recently beat Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean. It's a great game, my sister had a lot of fun with it, and the plot is kinda confusing and plot-twisty but excellent...except for one large detail. As in many JRPGs, you beat the final boss, and many spoilery events happen, both happy and heartbreaking. But, right in the middle of a very tense, tearjerkery cutscene, a villain who had DIED earlier suddenly shows up in a very comical way, announces his own godhood, and you have to fight him. He has a ton of HP, so he takes forever to fight, but his attacks are hilariously weak, he looks absolutely ridiculous, and he requires virtually no effort to beat. Once you do so, the ending continues, with absolutely no mention of that battle ever happening. It's stupid, it's time-consuming, it's utterly pointless, it's never foreshadowed at all, it ruins the mood of the scene, and it's the real final boss of the game. Definite worst moment, right there. At least Yu Yevon in Final Fantasy X had clear connection to the plot.
