SPELUNKY: ON SALE ON STEAM FOR ONLY $3.74

Spelunky is quite possibly one of the top 10 PC games of all time, in my opinion.

Now that I've opened with such a controversial phrase, what is Spelunky, for those of you unfortunate enough to not have played it by now?

Spelunky is an unforgiving platforming adventure game with rogue-like elements. You explore a series of randomly-generated caves, with many enemies, traps, and dangers to hinder your path and lead to many oh-so-frustrating but still avoidable deaths, find items and weapons to make the journey a bit easier, and progress through all 4 areas of the game in the hope that you can make it to the final boss.

You won't however. You will die. A lot. And you will love every second of it.

There's something about how all the elements blend together that even if Spelunky is one of the most agonizing endeavors in gaming ever created, you always keep coming back for more. It took me over 500 playthroughs just to beat the boss once, but man was it worth every second.

You can get the original game for free(that's right, one of the best games for PC ever made is absolutely free)here. After you've gotten used to it, I suggest you also download the mod Tastes Like Spelunky to get even more enjoyment out of it.

And for those of you who've already played the game to death like me, there's still something to be excited about, as it seems the updated Xbox version of the game will be released for Steam sometime in August. Even if it's 20 ♥♥♥♥ dollars or so, you can be damn well sure I'm buying it on day one.

Steam version is out, and it is nothing short of amazing.

Don't second guess because of the $13 price tag, it's worth every single cent.

Do yourself a favor and get it.

You can always look up things in the Spelunky wiki that you don't understand or search for guides there, but there's a certain magic to the trial and error nature of Spelunky and discovering things on your own that I consider one of the things that make it such a fantastic game.
