Form what I've heared the Spyro games after 3 are not as good, as they weren't made by Insomniac (the developer and creator), but Universal. Same goes for Crash Bandicoot, though I did enjoy Wrath of Cortex and Twinsanity.

Another game I forgot to mention was Wild Arms, a western styled RPG, another underrated one from what I hear. You're so lucky you can get Chrono Cross. In Europe they're nowhere, as there was no PAL version :/ I'm relying on an emulator now, but if someone has any information if PSX games are region locked on the PS2 I'll gladly look for the legit disc.

If you have a gamecube or a PS3, you probably can get the Metal Gear Solid 1 remake (for the GC) or the HD collection (1 2 and 3 with bonus missions).

Also it seems funny that you talk about how Megaman X6 strayed from the formula, seen as MMX1 was quite different from MM1 altogether. From what I've heared X4 wasn't bad (X7 was really the one people didn't like)

As far as I know Disgaea (Tactical RPG) came out for PS2 not PSX. But another Tactical RPG for PSX is Final Fantasy Tactics. Game tells a story of two kingdoms fighting for control of the land and two people who carved the future of those 2 kingdoms. If you ever played Final Fantasy Tactics Advance/FFTA2 then it's pretty similar, yet still quite different.

The game got a remake called War of the Lions for PSP and iOS with additional cutscenes, characters etc. If you want the PSP version, beware. The game lags royally when doing any techniques. This is fixed in the iOS verison, but you can play normally on the PSP if you install a patch (but that's the PSP version, not PSX. PSX is perfectly fine).

Another game: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1-4. It's a skating game, pretty well known so I won't talk for much. However I heared that the newer ones have more tricks etc. Not that it matters if you never played one.

If it wasn't obvious: Tekken as a fighting game. Also Bloody Roar 2 is a fighting game, pretty all-right.

Geez another wall of text >.>

I do have a GC, maybe I should get the MGS remake instead of the original. I've played a little bit of MGS through emulation, but the game is so finicky and skips a ton if your settings aren't specific, and that's just a big headache IMO.

Only problem is, I'm not sure my parents would approve, it being an M-rated game. Being a teenager kinda sucks... :/

In terms of RPGs, aside from the obvious Final Fantasy trio on the PSX, there's also Chrono Cross, Tales of Destiny 1+2 and re-releases of every FF except for 3.

Which is what I got. Thank you for suggesting a game I already have :/

That would be Anthology, and HALE no to that. I'm perfectly fine with the versions of FF that I have.

Yeah, I know how that teenage thing feels... You could probably get the PSX version for cheaper than GC version. In my shop it costs 40 pounds (England money ftw) for a used copy. The PSX version is up to 15$ on EBay and MGS1: The Twin Snakes (GC version) was going up to 50$ (60$ when an auction), so it's kinda rare. Also, if you want to buy Chrono Trigger or the FF collections, it will have more lag because PS1 is a PS1.

Guess what more games I forgot! (at this rate people will figure out I didn't grow up with Nintendo) Oddworld is a game in which you, leader of a species used as slaves for everything, decide to free your friends whilst avoiding traps, beasts etc. A 2D puzzle platformer that is hard, you have to communicate with your friends, giving them commands in order to save more of your species. Again, not played it myself, but hear many good things about it and will eventually get aroung to playing the game.

I haven't really seen much of the newer MMX games, so 6 was meh. From what little footage I've seen, I feel like they've strayed away from the classic formula of Mega Man.

I'd say skip X6. I've watched a few playthroughs on YouTube, and each one of the players with commentary and they said it sucked (one said it was worse than X7). I heard X8 was good if not decent, but that's not for the PSX, so we're not going there.

You can get both Oddworld games on Steam. And you should get the PS1 MGS instead of the remake. Mostly because it's cheaper but they also changed the gameplay around making it work more like MGS2 even though the original gameplay was fine.

Also you should've gotten SotN man. The disc is worth it for the wierdness that scratches give you but if you REALLY don't want to pay that much you should look into Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles on the PSP. It has a Rondo of Blood 2.5 remake as well as unlockable Rondo of Blood (original) and SotN games. If you can't hunt down the disc it's on PSN for $15 or SotN alone is $10.

Also also I'll point out Megaman Legends, Legends of Legaia, and Klonoa again as they are all legendary in my book.

P.S. Parasite Eve is a good RPG series too. You should check that out.

I didn't have enough money, dude. All I had was thirty bucks and it was like forty. Chrono Cross was only fifteen.

I was looking for Mega Man Legends, but they didn't have that. I plan to get that though, it sounds cool.
