This is for any sort of discussion involving any games with a competitive scene or competitive gaming in general.

Games like Super Smash Bros. Melee, Street Fighter, and Starcraft that have some sort of competition involved in them all count.

Any kind of discussion about competitive play, whether it's you wanting to improve your playstyle or discuss tournaments or you want to share a video of a hyped tournament set, is welcome.

I dunno how I feel about this, a lot of competitive games I play have all these sort of set metagames and "oh you must use this strategy/character/whatever to succeed in life". The worst part is I pick naturally what I find enjoyable before learning about competitive strats, and I always end up picking the supposed worst stuff.

But oh well.

Hey, that stuff can sometimes change the meta if you keep putting your heart into it. Look at people like aMSa and his Melee Yoshi for instance.

Yup, that's exactly what I'm doing now with Kirby and Game&Watch. So far I've had a good run.

On the bright side I have yet to meet anyone who can match me in Kirby Air ride and Red Alert 2 (I might get origin just to play with you guys).

I wish there were a tournament for Bomberman 64: TSA in particular, because apparently I'm almost godly at that game. I lost my breath a couple times realizing how ridiculously well I play it.

Until I find the equipment that allows me to do Battle Mode montages (not on the glitchy Project64 version), I can only tell you how good I am.
I mean, I obviously make mistakes here and there, but apparently I can be VERY consistent with great moves if I'm trying hard. In fact, I've managed to laughably torment Level 5 computers on all five Battle themes for years straight, but that was mostly because I played it way, way more often back then.

It even got to the point where I wanted Level 6 computers, because Level 5 just wasn't hard enough.

And don't you get me started on how awesome my knock-out recovery speed is. 16-push for the win!

I feel like the only character I've had consistent problem with facing is Marth in Melee though, that range gets kinda annoying after playing him for a while

Let me see if I can help by giving you this information:
SmashWiki wrote:On the downside, his ability to punish approaches are somewhat limited in comparison to other top tier characters due to the lack of a projectile and the short duration of his moves. Marth also suffers from a general lack of options when put on the defensive. His weight makes him very easy to combo and does not provide sufficient knockback resistance to survive heavy hits at kill percent. Marth's out of shield game is also notoriously poor. His recovery is also problematic; while it is extendable with his side special and can end with a fast up special that covers decent distance, it is also rather predictable. Marth's main weakness though is that despite the fast startup of his moves, his moves have considerable endlag and are thus very whiff punishable. As such Marth is very susceptible to momentum shifts; a punished move puts Marth in a defensive position where he has little options.

Maybe come up with something from this maybe? This actually gave me more information about Melee Marth.
If you've seen The Big House 5. Armada took advantage of Mew2King's Marth and his weaknesses by using the turnips to keep Marth from approaching very much. Kirby and G&W may not necessarily have those kinds of tools, but you can certainly try to pressure Marth to play defensively and throw off his pace.
Maybe try to practice the matchup against Marth. I solo main R.O.B. in Smash 4, and I'll challenge any unfavorable matchup I have. I don't mind too much.
Heck, pick up a pocket main if you need to or a character you can use in emergencies or something.
I have more experience with Smash 4, but I do watch Melee now and then; and I can ask questions to one of my friends who plays Falco and Samus in Melee.

My problem is that I'm a defensive Kirby and Game&Watch player, and I love it when Marths come aggro at me, because then I can punish them most of the time. But then you have a Marth that literally just sits back spamming f-air and it becomes hard to approach (because you can l-cancel it, Marth can immediately toss out f-airs with little options to approach).

Also, SmashWiki gets stuff wrong a fair amount of the time (especially when it comes to Kirby). But it is right when it says Marth is easy to combo, which is great for me.

I'm busy trying to prove to people that Dedede isn't as bad of a character as people say he is in Smash 4. He's low on the tier list but he has a lot of cool stuff with the gordos and setups. After 100% you're as good as dead if he lands a gordo the right way.

You've seen Girthquake? That guy does some awesome Dedede stuff.
There are a good amount of other Dedede players as I'm looking off of the wiki.
I don't have much of an opinion on ddd, but I see some potential in him.

I feel the same with Pit as I main him. He is high mid, so why does it matter? He's very flexible at least for me. There aren't many notable players aside from Earth and a few others. He has a small playerbase. Like...nobody freaking plays him.
