Highly recommend both of these. I don't know what sort of stuff is available for the Kindle Fire, but if either of those is available they're definitely worth the price.

The games I list I don't consider the price, so be warned.

Steam:
- Reassembly
- Sins of a Solar Empire
- Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance or 2
- Borderlands 2
- Fez
- Planetary Annihilation: Titans
- Tribes: Ascend
- Team Fortress 2
- Terraria
- Undertale
- Act of Aggression (although I haven't played it yet it looks promising)
- Airmech
- Awesomenauts
- Earth 2150
Edit: I forgot Yomi! I dunno if you have enough money to get it though.

Non-Steam PC Games:
- Command & Conquer Red Alert 2
- C&C Tiberian Sun
- uhh... dang I can't list any atm
Expect something cool here soon!

I've never played a Metroid game in my life, but I want to. What should I start with? (I don't wanna do the Prime games or Other M, because I'm bad at first-person stuff.)

Of the 2D ones, Zero Mission or Fusion are both pretty good. ZM is fairly open-ended and has a ton of secrets whereas Fusion is a lot more on-rails and gives the player more direction. Up to you which you prefer, but personally I like ZM better.

Aside from those, Super Metroid is pretty labyrinthine, so unless you're prepared to get lost and wander a lot (or look up maps/walkthroughs) I would wait on it unless you like doing that.

Well, for metroid I may be biased here, but aside from Prime, Super Metroid is the very best in the franchise imo, so you could start with that. If you have played Symphony of the Night and you liked it, then SM is perfect. It gives the whole backstory in the intro of the game, so story isn't an issue here. It also has some of the best level design you'll ever see in a video game, so it is a 10/10 game.

Zero Mission is pretty good starting point as well, because not only it is the remake of the very first in the franchise, but the way you explore the world in it is something reoccuring in almost all Metroid games. Besides, it is a great game as well.

I recomend against starting with Fusion, because while it is a great game, it's pretty linear, and requires a lot of backstory, so it is not a good introduction point for the Metroid series, because it's pretty different from the others in a lot of ways, even the way the game progresses.

OOOH I FORGOT SOMETHING

Myst is a GREAT non-steam PC game. Absolutely FANTASTIC for its time, and it's aged really well. Open-world puzzle-solving, VERY well designed atmospheric-wise. I think it's a game you'll really enjoy, KABOOM.

Tagging onto this, Myst has a sequel, Riven. It's also extremely great.

And sorry Harmless, I accidentally goofed up your post because apparently mods have two big black buttons with red text, and only one of them quotes the post. The other just flat out edits it... you can probably see where this is going. I think it's fixed now, but if not, I'm sorry man.

If you like Ace Attorney and/or Persona, I recommend checking out Danganronpa. It's like a fusion of those two games and is pretty good. Fair warning though, it is kinda gruesome and will torture you psychologically if you're not careful.
