Transistor

I havent listened to it completely (read as I haven't played it completely) but from what I got so far it's pretty great

Also Bryce said that you shouldn't even touch it if you haven't played the game or else you die. I completely agree with him. I haven't tested it out though.

Seriously, don't. The OST is really interconnected with the story and the lyrics completely spoil the entire game.

I listen to way more video game songs than I probably should. MOTHER 3 and Undertale are at the top of the list, but there's more that I don't feel like talking about right now.

What I DO feel like talking about right now, though, is the fact that:

this game's soundtrack: show

was composed by the same guy who also composed:

this other game's soundtrack: show

Yep, that's right: the guy who created one of the greatest soundtracks ever, for one of the greatest games ever, also did Skyrim.

I found this while scavenging. I'll update if anything else shows up.

I just recently finished Final Fantasy IV for the PSP. The remastered soundtrack is overall excellent, but I haven't found a single remix of this song that quite matches the original SNES version.

Best played at high volume :p

Might as well stick it in here. Also worth a look at is Powerful and Bright.

While on the topic of top-down shooters, I really, really recommend taking a look at Touhou for good music. There's one particular channel that made some orchestral covers of some of the games. Will leave one of his videos below for everyone willing to check it out:

Anyone know the theme that plays around this 5:39? (This video may be NSFW if you know Catherine at all)

Or here's a link directly to that time: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVOpwbUlh-Y&t=5m39s

(As an aside this reviewer is p-cool and pretty underrated too)

From the sound of it, it's probably from Persona. Since both Catherine and Persona are from Atlus, it'd make sense to include it there.
