When you play a game over and over, you get really good at it. So, you might make a challenge for yourself. Pokemon Nuzlockes are a popular example. I've done a Black 2 randomized nuzlocke that I nearly lost because of a Crustle. (RIP Bertha, the Heatran, died to a Krookodile)

I also did a special form of Pokemon challenge, a D20 randomizer for Heart Gold. Basically, before getting an encounter on every route, you roll a D20. If you roll a 1, you don't catch the Pokemon and you put your strongest Pokemon in the graveyard(graveyard is a PC Box where you put all of your "dead" mons at). If you roll a 2-4, you just don't catch the Pokemon. If you roll a 5-17, you roll again, if you roll 18 or 19, you catch it and replace a member of your team, if you roll a 20, you catch the pokemon, and can choose to put it in the graveyard. If you add it to your team, you can revive a Pokemon in the box. If you find a shiny, it functions as an automatic 20. (EDIT: I actually found a shiny whilst doing this, it was a Hoothoot so it was named Frankie and I loved him)

The only other challenge I did was in Kirby Planet Robobot. Basically, if you lost an ability more than 3 times, you couldn't use it again. It didn't account for Robobot armor abilities. And if the ability was destroyed, like in water or in spikes, it was an automatic loss. I ended up beating the game with Leaf, as the only other abilities I had left were Jet and Wheel.

So what do you do when you make a gaming challenge for yourself? I'm curious.

Super Mario 64: Hat Golfing. Find any hole, then try to get your hat blown into it.

Bomberman 64: Protecting Pommy. Pommy mustn't get knocked out by anything whatsoever. It is fine if Pommy falls down a bottomless pit, unless undesired.

Minecraft:
Go to the End, place a block 30 blocks away from where you stand(place 30 and dig 29), try to throw an Ender Pearl on that block without dying.
