Underrated Games

So, every once in awhile, you'll buy this game from some market, and you'll think that it might suck, because you've never heard of it before. But then, you get into it, and you see that although it may be weak in one area, it's the best in another. List those kinds of games here.

Mystic Heroes - Producer: KOEI - For Nintendo Gamecube
This game lacks story and voice-acting, but gameplay and graphics is superb.

Story:
It stars several young mystic that locked away an evil king (Kang) and his army. There is a dragon star that comes to Earth's orbit every million years. Kang takes control of the star to release him and his army, and now thirsts for revenge against the mystics. It's up to the mystics to lock Kang away again and return the dragon star's power.
Gameplay:
You are one person, and you have to fight through enemy units. You can attack with your sword and create combos by repeatedly pressing the A-button, and combos differ depending on distance from your enemy. You also have the choice of using magic spells. I know, it sounds pretty cliche, but here's the thing. You can pick which spells to bring with you on a mission, and make combos out of those too. There are 4 types of spells. Direct spell (a small burst infront) target spell (choose multiple targets from afar) swordspell (=epic combos) and jumpspell (jump up and toast everyone under and around you.) Make combos to demolish you enemies quickly. There are 4 attributes that spells have. (lightning is fast, strong but consumes more magic<can also slow down enemies>) (wind is pretty even in all areas<confuses enemies>) (fire is same as lightning, except it's a lot slower<burns>) (ice takes up less magic and is relatively weak, but consumes less magic<freezes>)

sonic adventure 2 battle, this game, although graphics were awesome, multi-player was crappy. here's the games ratings from IGN

Presentation 7.0
Sonic and his world as you'd expect. Bad voice acting and a heritage of some
nasty character design. Dr. Eggman?

Graphics 8.0
A blistering framerate, sharp and detailed textures, and even progressive scan
support.

Sound 6.0
Stay away from the cheesy rock songs, please. Unique high-energy
compositions would do the title well. And, we needn't mention the bad voices
again...

Gameplay 6.0
Frustrating camera problems, largely simplistic control mechanics, and
unfocused gameplay. Focus on Sonic and his speed.

Lasting Appeal 5.0
If you actually like Sonic, there are multiple missions leaving plenty to do.
However, if you don't, Chao rasing (with GBA) and the mediocre multiplayer
leaves much to be desired.

OVERALL 6.9
PASSABLE
(out of 10)

the game wasn't that bad in my opinion...i do believe they screwed up somewhere in the middle of it all. i used to play this game nearly 24/7. :D

Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines (PSP)

An awesome game that critics gave very bad reviews. The very reason I got interested in Assassin's Creed.

Okami - This game has been released twice, once on the PS2, then on the Wii. It has had many good reviews, but hardly anyone bought it.

Storyline: The game is set in Nippon based on Japanese classic history, and begins with a flashback to events 100 years prior to the game's present, and describes how Shiranui, a pure white wolf, and Nagi, a swordsman, together fought the eight-headed demon Orochi to save Kamiki Village and the maiden Nami, Nagi's beloved. Shiranui and Nagi are unable to defeat Orochi but manage to seal the demon away. In the game's present, Susano, a descendant of Nagi and self-proclaimed greatest warrior, breaks Orochi's seal due to the fact that he does not believe in the legend, and Orochi escapes and curses the lands, sapping the life from every living being. Sakuya, the wood sprite and guardian of Kamiki Village, calls forth Amaterasu, the sun goddess, known to the villagers as the reincarnation of the white wolf Shiranui, and pleads her to remove the curse that covers the land. Accompanied by the artist Issun (an inch-high Poncle), Amaterasu is able to restore the land to its former beauty. - Wikipedia

Gameplay: Very Zelda like. You play as the character of Amaterasu, a white wolf. There is a lot of slashing away in boss battles, and puzzles to solve. You com plete quests, and side-quests and try to rid the world of the evil that has crept inside using your brush techniques.

Other Games to see:
  • Little King's Story (Wii)
  • Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure (Wii)

I know it, I've played it. I(my brother) has all the Advance Wars games to date (except the latest, which was lost... in France) and yet I'm the only one who could finish number 2. O_o
