The only thing I'm noticing are new characters, stages, and fancy menu screens. Which are cool, but I wish they could focus more on the animation/graphical aspect. At this point, I think I've realized that the sprites are so small compared to TSR's sprites that they really can't help with fluidity all too much, but they should at least add proper animations for throwing items, struggling in someone's grab, etc. What's also been bothering me is how some of the special effects aren't sprites like the rest of the game. the magic stars of Zelda's normal-up are sprites, but why not the slashes of Link's sword? Why not Captain Falcon's fire? It feels like some of the stuff is slapped on. I think it should stay consistent. Rather than recoloring everyone properly, Cleod overlayed the colors for each character. Red Link is still green, just with more red hue. While you're at it, maybe a separate sprite for a character with the Smash Ball. The rainbow fire looks crap-ugly, just sitting there. And finally, the character select screen. The icons look terribly resized. I would have just made separate, smaller versions of the character portraits for the icons.
The coding looks like it's done. All the moves are available. Now just refine it, for the love of God. I know, blahblahblah graphics shouldn't mean anything, but I think flash game standards have grown a lot in the past few years, and some visual refining would really help this look like a more professional game, even if it is a fangame.
