You need a bit of context for the first quote up there. It seems that by some unfortunate twist of fate, Ven failed one of his courses and was kicked out of college. But you know us, the way we deal with bearers of bad news or other people's personal problems is by making bad jokes and annoying them to such an extent that they forget what their problem was is the first place.
