Because Flash is a piece of ♥♥♥♥ resource hog known for causing CPU spikes and eating up the memory needed for processes. Depending on the game it may require more. My PC runs games fine, but if I load up LL, I'm met with lag. Unbearable lag, even at low quality, because of everything that goes on.
I speak from experience in a "Web Design" course where the teacher required I design a website with Flash, regardless of my knowledge of HTML. Everything we did in Flash, I coded at home in HTML, I even dabbled in CSS and Javascript. The result at the end of the year? I ran my project alongside the ones she made us make, and I never once had my fan blowing hot air in my face trying to cool itself, my CPU and RAM were decent.
Flash, to the best of my knowledge, is more or less a port of what was once Macromedia Shockwave? Uncertain, but I know that Adobe either bought Macromedia, or Macromedia became Adobe, and Shockwave is Flash's predecessor. If you think Flash is a hog, go run a Shockwave game.
And yes, Windows 8.1 is also a ♥♥♥♥ operating system that I sadly was forced to upgrade to. My laptop has been laggy as absolute ♥♥♥♥ since, and I'm tempted to revert to a pirated Windows 7, because this is ♥♥♥♥.
Run DxDiag in search on Windows, post your specs, I'm curious. I have 4GB ddr3 ram too.
