I deliberately avoided the 15 who actually competed in Runouw Survivor.

I made sure I got the generator good and balanced and it spat out a season I actually think will make a good story.

The season I used for this was Survivor: Caramoan (Fans vs Favorites). While storywise it's my absolute least favorite season due to the often flat out immoral stances it takes on its storylines and its penchant for humiliation, structurally it fits my needs- 2 10-person tribes, a brief swap, a merge right where I want it, and plenty of wiggle room. I did one edit that ultimately doesn't affect the outcome much at all, but otherwise the only license taken will be the story to fill in the blanks. The downside is that their version of Hidden Immunity idols actually cancels votes by the user, meaning they could fail to have majority and technically be voted out but still survive, and their end tribal council, as in the final vote Raz and Venexis faced, allows three people in the finals, which I have always argued is an underwhelming ending. Otherwise, it's the perfect structure, and I can promise you this season will be a lot of fun.

Here's a little Episode 1 preview for y'alls.

Survivor Chile Episode 1: "A Battle Cry Can't Be Ignored"

Filmed on the Isle Navarino in Chile, close enough to the arctic circle to find snow on nearby mountain caps, but also close enough to the ocean to find pristine, rocky beaches, the latest season of Survivor is beginning. Two tribes of ten strangers each will land with each other and be forced to start a new miniature society. They will find ways to nourish themselves, keep each other safe from the weather, keep their bodies functioning the best they can, using only the environment around them. At the same time, they will need to eliminate each other one by one- while they can put it off by winning immunity challenges, eventually they'll hit the merge, where everyone will have to vote each other out or be voted out. When only three remain, they will face the final seven people they voted out and convince them to vote one of the three people remaining the win. This person will be the sole survivor, and will take home the million dollar check.

Already, on each tribe, first opinions are starting to form.

Korina Sansa wrote:I do murals for a living- legal for the most part. *sly smile* So I like to design and paint a lot, but everything has to be impeccable, right? And right now I'm looking at the makeup of this redhead before me and I'm thinking "Wow, honey, give me the washcloth and let me fix you up right." He looks really... really creepy.

Bryce "Bam" Mullins. wrote:I was big on comics when I was a kid. Like most twelve year olds with an unchecked rebellious streak, I loved the joker. I loved the whole idea of turning the cheerful into something f***ed up. So now I work with a horrorcore circus as a clown. And looking at all these people I don't know who I wanna scare first. Maybe the redhead who hasn't cracked a smile since we met.

Opal Johanas wrote:There's this guy who just looks extremely smug, like, all the time. The pretentious red beret doesn't help matters. I want him out first before he really starts to annoy the hell out of me. I've worked with a lot of people like him, and they're nothing but social hindrances to the team.

Gregor Pilz-Klasse wrote:Most people I know keep a... respectful distance from me, even before I open my mouth. I suppose some would say I'm off-putting, but I know what I believe, and I know who I can trust. There's a woman with a bowler hat who's regarded me warmly right off the bat. I admire her spirit and I hope she stays around for awhile.

On Omora, opinions were also forming very early on.

Reese Traeger wrote:Being who I am, as a trans woman, 99% of the population can't help but just be a little, you know... *leaps back* Like they're a cat that got sprayed with water. Even those who support me! I guess I'm like a unicorn, the arc of the covenant, and Hootie and the Blowfish or something. You don't see many women as gorgeous as me out there. ;) But there's someone who hasn't backed off from me early on. Who just treats me like another castaway on this ship to hell. I really like the cowboy, he and I are gonna be good friends.

Xavier Stone wrote:There's a woman in Muslim garb. I don't remember the name of it. She's got a sly sort of smile on her face. I should be suspicious of her, but I think she's more on her guard around me. Whenever she notices I'm looking at her she looks away. Guess cowboy-type Southerners don't have the best rep with the Islam population. But I just think she's pretty, so... y'know, hopefully she won't be shy around me forever.

Fatima Ahmed wrote:I'm embarrassed because being an improv artist means you love to laugh at how ♥♥♥♥ other people are. And so I look at these people and I wonder just how much they suck. I don't trust anyone, but I got a feeling a lot of them will downright amuse me. Like the guy with the mohawk and the clear I'm-a-f***ing-rockstar outfit. I can give you twenty pages on why he's such a clear tryhard. I just hope no one else notices that I'm giving them ♥♥♥♥ in my head.

Jase Bastian wrote:The woman with the heart-shaped sunglasses. She's got a lot more going on than it looks like. I mean, I know how to put up a front. Enough AA sessions will get that out of you. And she's got a lot of tight fashion but she's communicating something clear- question me and I'll cut you. I like it, but I'm also on edge. I got no doubt that she could cut my throat if she wanted.

Slowly, the two tribes made their way to the beaches of Isle Navarino, where their flags were waiting to match the buffs they already wore- Falesias' orange with blue lettering, and Omora's blue with green lettering. The host, Donovan Brennan, welcomed them to Survivor, but not even immediately after the celebratory cheers, launched them straight into their first challenge, which offered flint for fire and twenty pounds of beans as a kickstart. In teams of two, and in five matches which forced the involvement of everyone present, the two tribes would have matches where they would need to carry a sandbag over to their side of a patch of water fenced off for the fight. They were told to use any means of fight they had on them, except for deliberate attacks like punches and kicks. Naturally, this had many caught off guard, and the less physical intensely worried.

Martin Baramour wrote:I knew this game would come with surprises, but I had hoped against wrestling with cowboys five minutes in. *laughs heartily*

Siobahn Joseph wrote:Welcome to Survivor, prepare to die!

Match one was between social activist Gregor and muralist Korina from Falesias, and soldier Mallory and police officer Damon from Omora. Gregor whispered "This is terrifying" to Korina, who clapped him on the back as she threw her bowler hat onto the sands for Caitlin to pick up, dusting the sand off. Damon gave a menacing grin to scare them, and Mallory laughed out of amusement. The fight started, but it became clear that it was easy to detract from Mallory's focus, allowing Korina to tackle her and steal the bag. While taking a significant beating from Damon, who was more than happy to tackle him as he blocked Korina from her attackers, Gregor was successful in protecting his partner, who stole the sandbag to their side, leaving both Damon and Mallory humiliated.

Mallory Perkins wrote:I was really hoping this wouldn't happen. I knew coming in I'd have a disadvantage, because I'm blind in one eye. Got shot down in Afghanistan, and pulled back home. I'm used to it but my depth perception is really ♥♥♥♥ because of it, but I know if I tell anyone here, they're just looking for reasons to find me weak enough to ditch. So the sunglasses stay on.

Round two, a men-only round, led to Omora putting their best forward- Alaskan ship captain Michael, and rancher Xavier. Sociology professor Martin put himself up at his own request, and at Madelyn's suggestion she said horror clown Bryce should give him a hand. Both Madelyn and Martin had their reasons.

Martin Baramour wrote:I knew against those two, very few of us would have a chance. I know I'm past my wrestling days, if I ever had them to begin with, so I knew I would be a good sacrificial line to detract their free point.

The round began and ended as expected- despite their best efforts Xavier and Michael rather casually took the sandbag and outpaced the Falesias. When realizing they no longer put in considerable effort, Michael laid off of his defense against Martin, but when Bam lunged to tackle Xavier ineffectively, Xavier tried to shake him off. When that failed, he simply walked to the end with Bam in tow, taking the point. While no one on Falesias had a strong reaction, a smirk creeped onto Madelyn's face.

Madelyn Avola wrote:I know I won't be the strongest here, so I wanted to make sure someone looked worse than I did. Plus, I really want that kid to wash that atrocious makeup off of his face. Seeing him run after the cowboy was hilarious, I mean he had nothing on him.

Another unisex round followed- UN Ambassador Caitlin and FBI agent Victor for Falesias versus doctor Siobahn and community organizer Clark for Omora. Victor showed off expressive steadiness in the challenge, even as Caitlin found herself faltering in a head-to-head fight against Siobahn. Regardless, both women kept each other out of commission. However, despite Victor showing an impressively cool head and doing his best to keep Clark at bay, Clark's sheer power led to him snatching the bag from Victor, barely outpacing him to return it to the mat, giving Omora a 2-1 advantage. One more round, and they would win the challenge. Caitlin apologized to Victor for being unable to help, but he just shook his head with a comforting smile.

Victor Volk wrote:We barely started. It's too early to judge the capabilities of others.

This led to the women-only round. Pin-up model Reese and improv artist Fatima of Omora faced off against traveling photographer Madelyn and entertainment researcher Tori. Notably, Fatima chose to keep her garments on even in the water. Despite being relatively older than the other women in the game, Madelyn took no prisoners, not only tackling Reese but keeping her in a headlock. However, her attempts to overexert and chase Fatima with Reese in tow backfired as Reese got away, but Fatima was distracted enough by the event to end up losing track of Tori, who snuck the bag to her tribe's endzone, tying it up 2-2. The final round would decide a winner.

The final round would be fought by Omora's rock guitarist Jase and diner owner Dahlia, and Falesias' business advisor Opal and architect Romain. Romain felt confident in their chances.

Romain Valjean wrote:I am very hopeful in our abilities. You see, we've successfully saved our best for last. I know I am the best athlete here, and I know Opal is stronger than all of the women here. I think because of this, we will succeed, and that is glory I am happy to claim as my own.

The round began. To both Opal and Romain's shock, Opal's attempts to chase after Dahlia were blocked by Jase all but sidelining her, shoving her into the water. Romain, stunned, attacked Jase to help Opal recover, but it was far too late by then. Dahlia ran with the sandbag to their side of the mat, claiming victory for Omora. Dahlia cheered with excitement, accepting hugs from everyone, and Jase cheered loudly, proud of himself. Winded and stunned, Opal could only flip him the bird, venting to Romain "What a classless little prick."

Jase Bastian wrote:I don't care. Bring it on. I'll do anything it takes so I can win. If you wanna ♥♥♥♥♥ about it it doesn't matter because I can't hear you when you scream from Ponderosa. *laughs*

Caitlin Ornelas wrote:Working for the UN, I know that at many times that keeping the peace is vital, but a battle cry just can't be ignored. We at Falesias heard his cry loudly and clearly.
