Math Counts - Third Place Team

Postby TrappedTime » February 27th, 2010, 2:26 pm

My team [TABB Middle] got third place in the regional math counts competition.
We got first last year[Because we had Joey and Wei].

Now I have two plaque thingies.
The whole thing itself was fun, but my heart like..... fell once I heard this:

"The second place winner is Grafton Middle"

GRR GRAFTON AND YOUR STUPENDOUS VICTORY!!!

I won't be having MathCounts meetings anymore, which literally tears a piece from my heart.....
I won't have anything to do anymore.
Nothing.
Please help me......

[Though I read on THS webpage that they have the 'Virginia Math League', they too have competitions]

Math Counts is only for middle schools, no higher.

Ah…MathCounts…I remember MathCounts…when I did MathCounts during my one year of middle school we won our regional competition and then got hammered in states. Still, it was fun.

I would suggest that when you get to high school you look for alternative math extracurriculars. I'm now in my third year as a Math Team member. Shuddup, I'm not a nerd. It is similar to MathCounts in that it is a mathematical competition but is harder, believe it or not. Now, this is only a local program, but you might have similar activities in your high school. If not…try a different kind of activity perhaps.

*cough* If you didn't know the 'H' standed for 'High' .
I just literally can't live without doing math most of the time.

Yeah, MathCounts is not an international program as far as I'm aware…wouldn't swear to that though.

And yeah, I should read next time TBG. ;)

Wow.. no one cares.

I don't see why you need Math. I find it one of those useless subjects I'll never need in life. All I'll need to know it add, subtract... the rest, and maybe a few others. Not this 3D graphs crap and stuff.

WHAT??? HOW DARE YOU INSULT MATH!!! IMMA FIRIN' MAH CALCULUS LAZOR!!! BLARGHHH!! TAKE THOSE DERIVATIVES PUNK!!!

Er, yeah. Moving on. I agree that in many cases advanced math serves no purpose, especially if you're not going to major in the field or in engineering or physics or things like that and then go onto have a wonderful career in one of those fields. But it's still fun as heck.

All right all right, shoot me now and get it over with.
