Sand Powered - New Age Of Life

Okay, so today I heard about some guy who invented a plate[square] that was made with sand[Not 100% made of sand but mostly] and it could be used to generate power. If you put a ton of them together you can generate enough power for a year for one house.
This guy is epic win, please if you have comments or further info please tell.
[Right now these things{the giant ones, not the plates} cost about $700-$800]
