LISTEN TO ME:

In order for something to [us] appear "levitating" is must be able to spin the EXACT direction the earth is while not tangeting it.
But that's impossible[for humans] to do, so something must be keeping those "magicians" attached to the earth to keep them form falling.

A girl bound in silence finds the words to say to her prospective girlfriend as they visit her religious father in a dusty town on the edge of Kansas, where the crows' migration south brings forth anchored memories, the path to resolution, and a new start.

No, the earth has a magnetic field. It's like there's a magnet inside the earth's core.

Hey, gravity still effects you, even if you aren't on the ground.

Airplanes, satellites, birds, everything, you still turn in relation to the Earth even if you aren't ON the earth.

That's only if you're moving, or attached to earth's surface.
So since no one can fly, something is keeping magicians attached to the earth.
